Flight Risk (2025) - one of the movies I watched on the tiny screen while flying over to Straya last week. Unrealistic Mel Gibson-directed survival on a light aircraft flight gone wrong thing. Alright lowbrow entertainment, found it pretty damn funny. Many movies depict a non-pilot landing a plane, but I wasn't prepared for how hilariously botched the landing would be in this one. Even funnier that the runway wasn't the first thing she crashed into during the flight.

Flight Risk was an amazing and wild action ride with absolutely no predictable moments!

It was entertaining enough but it was a bit of a guessing game as to how silly they'd go. Marky Mark is a master escapologist and can get out of any bad situation. Surely Mel's working on a sequal where Marky Mark is a chauffer driver delivering Topher to court in a Telsa and they fight it out in the back seat with the car on autopilot.

Curious to see if I appreciate them any more this time.
Well I did, but more so I & III, fuck... my opinions on this may grate even more than @Vegard Pompey's. I may've blasphemously enjoyed III slightly more than I. It adds layers to the story - sometimes outrageous, occasionally funny. The helicopter attack, the ordering hits in the Vatican. Having to come to terms with the new guy Vincent being so unlikeable (foreshadows The Sopranos using similarly unlikeable characters). Michael having actually somewhat achieved his goal of moving into more 'legitimate' business such as property adds a new spin. I like Joe Mantegna, and the opera is decent. In Sofia's worst scenes she perhaps just needed them to keep giving her different lines to say until she randomly managed not to sound retarded. At least she's kinda cute.

The back and forth between timelines in II that likely kept my easily bored teen self interested is the main thing I dislike about it now. It makes Michael's mostly one-note story of figuring out who's betraying him seem kinda limp. I can't be the only one as fan edits are fond of editing the trilogy into chronological order. Lack of cute women here, but a jackpot for those who dig Hyman's furry chest.

Michael Jai White's new action comedy is finally dropping this year, called Trouble Man (gotta be a reference to the 70's Robert Hooks blaxploitation of the same name). Black Dynamite and The Outlaw Johnny Black are both fucking hilarious.

Decided to rewatch Outlaw Johnny Black last night and it still holds up lol.

MJW understands slapstick comedy so well.

Guess the trainwreck I watched today:

Southland Tales. I watched the Cannes cut as I read it was better and more moody. I may try the theatrical version in the distant future as it sounds quite different.

Based on what everyone was saying, I expected it to be an absolute clusterfuck with too much different shit thrown into one movie. But I think the main plotline made it a reasonably coherent political-with-scifi-elements thing. It's just a bit tricky to follow who's who and what their motivations are, and it all seemed kinda pointless in the end. Still, I enjoyed how silly it was at times - got me wondering what it'd be like if Terry Gilliam directed The Hangover.
