The School/Uni Thread

Asking for pics of someone's girlfriend isn't dumb. Knocking someone for not being able/wanting to get a Master's degree is.

I am not knocking. I made a whole sentence and another post to highlight the fact that I am not judging him and understand his situation. How is that knocking? Really, how am I trying to prove that is stupid for not going for it? I am trying to say it is unfortunate that he is in that situation and wondered if he knew this was going to happen prior to entering college considering that he might of had a huge economic crisis in his family due to the massive economic meltdown that he all are facing.

Asking for someone for another poster's girlfriend and haircut pictures is dumb, creepy and pathetic.

Though, I am not going to argue the ethics of message board posting in the college thread. Want to argue with me, PM me.

it isn't a matter of right or wrong. It's a gray issue. What if he starts his own business?

True, I see your logic there and that might be his best route if he does not want to take place in the competitive corporate market.

also, there are some cases where having a Master's Degree is a bad thing. Los Angeles Unified School District prefers not to hire people with Master's or Doctorates as teachers because the district feels obligated to pay them more money for their extra credentials.

Wait, the school system does not hire people who are more educated? Great system there.

unknown, I seriously love you for that longshoreman/tugboat reference, so fucking awesome.

you could tug my boat anytime

LAUSD's all fucked up. For a while when they were lacking in teachers (like they will be in a few years), they started hiring tons of people and gave them "emergency credentials" and stuck them in front of classes. Granted some of those teachers actually went on to get their real credentials, the idea was still pretty mind boggling

but like I said...LAUSD is just all sorts of fucked up

Wow, that is actually pretty shocking. Gives me an idea for a debate bill for the debate team though, haha.

And how did you know about that Tugboat thing?

But do you honestly think someone looks up tugboat wages? I think it is obvious that he has the internet for use but I don't see where he would get the sudden passion to look up such a thing. And seeing he is still in college, I don't know how he would know a 200k+ earning tugboater.

I live right next to the world's third largest port...practically everybody I know is a longshoreman or a casual. As for the tugboat thing, a guy I used to work with was goin up to Oregon to go to tugboat school and told me all about it. pretty sweet gig.

Relatives
Friends of the family
Maybe he did research on it for a project?

It's not hard to think of how he might know about things like that

No, they do. You do. We all do.

Also, you told me via-AIM to come back.

Oh, I don't go by Alter. I have a new user name, it is (((0))). I still have not thought about how to pronounce it.
