I also just got a new PC to do my PhD work on, since this is the tech thread. It has 12 gigs of ram, Intel® Core™ i7 920 2.66GHz 8MB Cache quadcore processor, and a 1GB NIVIDA® GeForce™ GTX 280. Oh and 2TB RAID array. It's really kinda cool

Hey guys,
I'll need a laptop for grad school as most of it is online. I havent had a laptop since 2001 or so. I'm thinking about getting a 17 incher. Is that too big to lug around? Err, in other words, can you even find a case for which to carry around a 17? I just worry that my one bad eye isn't going to tolerate staring at a 14 inch screen for two years.

Our work connection is slower than my home one... but thats because we don't do much other than web browsing and VPN connections.
