Thrash vs. Speed

Shut Up...GOD...JUST SHUT UP...IF YOU DON'T WANNA POST ON THE THREAD THEN WHY DID YOU...GOD I AM SICK OF PEOPLE SAYING THREADS SUCK WHEN THEY POST ON THEM THEMSELVES JUST SO THEY CAN START A THREAD SAYING "I'M A WHINY BITCH WHO THINKS THAT ALL THE THREADS ON THIS FORUM SUCK"

and thrash and speed have a barely noticeable difference and both kickass so it doens't matter anyway

If somebody posts in a thread in order to say that it's a shitty thread that does not imply that they didn't want to post in the thread. Presumably, they did want to post in the thread, particularly to point out that they think the thread is shitty. The point of calling a thread dumb or shitty is to point out to the thread starter and other people involved in the thread that said thread is dumb or shitty. Learn how to reason.

Anyway, I don't give a shit about this thread.

It would imply that their comments are irrelevant and there is no point for them to post in the thread. When I don't like a thread I simply don't post in it to avoid unnecessary conflict.

I don't know what it would be for a comment to imply its own irrelevance. At any rate, it would seem that such comments are particularly apt if the thread in question is in fact crap.

There was as much separation between Speed Metal and Thrash Metal in the mid-late 80s as there was between Thrash Metal and Death Metal.

i dont know whether you intended that to sound sarcastic (i get the impression you did), but i think thats actually probably a fair comparison.

Different names for the same thing. Of course you're going to want to give them both clear, defined meaning because you are spending too much time sitting in your dark room clutching yourself, and there isn't much more for your mind to lend itself to. I'm sure there are people who have come up with very good reasoning to distinguish between speed and thrash through much the same methods, and if you care to look up their findings I'm sure you will be delighted with the results.

I won't spoil it for you. In conclussion, thrash is great.

Your comments are irrelevant because the purpose of the thread was not "whether you think this thread sucks or not". You not posting in my thread tells me you don't like it so there's no need to come in and tell me my thread is shit. The only reason you'd post in it to tell me it's shit is for trolling purposes.

Well, I went to wikipedia to check it out, and I like what they say, although the discussion page is in uproar. It seems to be universally agreed upon that painkiller by judas priest is speed metal. Heres off of wiki.

As speed metal was the vanguard for what would eventually become power metal and thrash metal, significant overlap between genres is often encountered in bands that are said to be rooted predominately in speed metal. This sometimes leads to confounding views with respect to the genre. The most common mistake is using the terms Speed metal and Thrash metal interchangeably. While the two are undeniably related to one another, both exhibit verifiable and definitive character traits that serve to differentiate them. Thrash metal tends to be much more riff oriented, with song constructions that utilize greater musical complexity and tempo variation. A common method that helps differentiate between the two styles of metal is listening to an album that is representative of both styles. For instance, Judas Priest’s Painkiller or Helloween’s Walls Of Jericho and Slayer’s Reign In Blood or Exodus’s Bonded By Blood are good starting points.

No. They're certainly irrelevant to the so-called purpose of the thread, or the poster's intention when starting it, but that doesn't mean that they're irrelevant to the actual thread.

You not posting in my thread tells me you don't like it so there's no need to come in and tell me my thread is shit.

No it doesn't. The fact that somebody is not posting in your thread could just as well mean that they don't care about the subject matter or have nothing to say. Anyway, why do you care so much? Does it hurt your feelings? Last time I checked you can just skip over said posts and not read them. I mean, seriously it's not the end of the world.

The only reason you'd post in it to tell me it's shit is for trolling purposes.

Not really. I might just want to make a true statement and let it be known. But even if I was trolling why do you sit here and whine about it when you know that the very point of trolling is to get you agitated?

Honestly I could care less what you think about my thread and you can obviously do what you want but I still think it's pointless (even from your standpoint) to go into someone's thread and say it sucks when it's irrelevant to the thread.

It's not as pointless as arguing with someone about the merit of making a post about a thread sucking in the thread that you're trying to defend.

This is a compelling debate.
