Video game music

does anyone else think that old in flames sounds like some cool video game music?

Definately, that's one of the main reasons I was attracted to their music.

If you like bands that have that sort of motif going try Machinae Supremacy... most notably their 'Great Gianna Sisters' track which is actually a cover of an old Commodore 64 game... that's the way melodic death should be :). By the way that track is available for free on their official site.

Wasn't 'Golden Axe' like a medievil 'Streets of Rage'. I really wanna play them again

im downloading the album right now. it sounds pretty cool so far. not something ill listen to often, but a great novelty listen.

That theme song from Red Alert simply made that game...well, that and running over dogs with mammoth tanks.

Civ 2, Doom 2, Legend Of Zelda, Chrono Trigger (damn that game ruled), Lemmings....some of those old games did damn well with what they had!

Oh, and its not midi sound effects, but I gotta say that Abes Oddysee was one of those games that absolutely nailed the use of sound.

hmm. i downloaded that whole album of video game songs the band had...but its some big RAR file, and i dont have any idea how to open that. what program handles RAR files, and what do i do from that point?

WinRAR. The .rar format is alot better than .zip and I use WinRAR to handle all compression and decompression duties. The mp3s are contained within the file... it should extract as a simple .zip file would.

I agree, Abe's Odyssey is a nice little and now-overlooked adventure game. The concepts and gameplay in that were refreshing and new for its time. Can't forget the chanting either haha.

Civ 2 had some great music! Totally. I remember alot of those long hours building an empire were spent enjoying those songs.

Zelda is just classic. I mean that theme song is pretty much familiar to anybody... not only that but the loading screen (fairy music) is so damned good! I love the old MIDI orchestral harp sounds, they really bring arpeggios to life, hehe.

I'm going for the guilty pleasure. I love the "Training" section of Mike Tyson's Punch Out when Little Mac and Doc are running and then you get the code.

Of course there's lots of other great game music I love, but someone will cover it. ;)

I think video game music is by far better than most "normal music".

I especially love the Metal Gear Solid soundtracks. H G Williams & Norihiko Hibino + Rika Muranaka = orgasm

The way these games blend the music with the visuals is unmatched.
