How much detail does he go into on being born with Microtia?

My youngest was born with the same condition

A fair amount I guess. How he could not hear sounds from that side, covered it with his hair, it made him self consious that apparently effected him his whole life, which is kind of ironic at this point. But obviously it did not stop him.
He did not write a whole chapter on it or anything like that. I guess he see it like shit happens, move on I suppose. His parents seemed to have had the same attitude about it.
