The options are crap. I'd like it a lot definitely, but they are obviously as bad a pairing for a tour as Pain Of Salvation and Opeth (I'd like to see that).

DT hate in here? What???? Where have you gotten that idea? :err:

Besides these choices suck so I wont put any. Wheres the "Alright, I'm going for Opeth, but DT isn't bad either?"

Hehe..sarcasm is fun.

These used to be my 2 favourite bands, but now I can't stand LaBrie's voice. I don't know why this developed, I used to love it. I guess it's because they were one of the first metal bands I heard and I wasn't familiar with the broad spectrum of vocalists and their talents. And Opeth isn't really my "favouirte" anymore either. So yea, I'd go, but it wouldn't be anything SUPERspecial.

I'm a huge DT fan, so that show would rule IMO.

BTW, did any of you catch G3 with John Petrucci a couple of years ago?

whats wrong with DT?
that would be an awesome show but having been to see both, i think the crowds would be on the extremes of death metal hoodlum and progressive metal nerd. thatd be funny.

The choises aren't very good, but I like both Opeth and Dream Theater so I would go see them both. I've heard somewhere that Akerfeldt dosen't like Dream Theater because they don't "progress" or whatever. Well...if Dream Theater came out in the early 70s and went into the 80s, then the 90s...I'm sure they would have a progression (and as big of a career) like Rush or Yes. Dream Theater has progressed drastically in my opinion for how long they've been around. Each album of theirs has it's own style or identity but then again, they are a progressive metal band...they wouldn't have as much diversity as like a progressive rock band.
anyway, it would be great to see those two bands play together, but to hear the narrowminded critques from Dream Theater's fellow shredwank fans about how technical Opeth's solos are...that I wouldn't look forward to.

Here's one for ya: A good friend of mine, who also happens to be one of the best guitarists I have ever heard, is a huge John Petrucci fan. That being said, when I turned him on to Opeth he simply told me that his writing style has forever been changed. Don't get me wrong, he loves shredding as much as the next guy, but emotion and feeling will always eclipse technical wizardry in my opinion. It's cool to listen to the stuff that he's written since that time. It totally blows his old stuff out of the water.

In short, I love DT (seen them 6 times) and their "wankiness", but I do enjoy it more when they simply play great melodies.

IMO, Opeth are the epitome of conveying emotion through music.

You know, i live in NZ. I think the best international metal band we've had come here is Disturbed. DISTURBED! I would go see Opeth, and have the most brilliant time of my life...then id see Dream Theater, who i have never heard before, just because they are there for the seeing. And it would be great. And i would rejoice. And i would be merry. And then i would go home and get drunk and not stop raving to all that would listen for months about how fantastic a night it was. And then (maybe) i would finally change out of my Opeth top i wore to the concert....

correction: Tool did come, but i was young, foolish, and poor

I was just thinking the exact same thing, that was fucking wierd............reading your pst after thinking that................that is.

I don't like those choices, so I'll abstain from voting, but I would be excited about both bands, although they aren't my two most favorite.

I would be much more excited about a tour with My Dying Bride or Anathema. I read in a magazine somewhere that Anathema wants to tour with Opeth anyway.

Well, these 2 bands ARE my favorites, so I'd go see them.

Now if Arjen Lucassen were to show up and do some Ayreon performance, I would probably take my own life because it'd all be downhill from those 3 in one night.
