Why the New Wave of Heavy (Mainstream) Metal is bad for metal

Bah , I am really getting tired of these questions in the real world or forums.
Metal will never die . Simply because trends are something like fashion which dies out after something new comes up.
where is grunge ? Where is nu-metal ? where is hardcore ?
Those are few genres which were told will hurt metal.
Those genres are a trend mainstream corporate market in which kids get into thinking it is metal. After some time listening to this crap kids grow up and understand the meaning of metal , therefore they stop listening to the shity mainstream crap.
Bands stating they are from a specific trend genre mysteriously change their style into more mainstream, why is that ? Thats cause this genre they were into died out.
But metal is , was , will stay metal , in every sub category regardless the mainstream bands.
I could rant about this for hours and make a whole article but I dont see the point. Kids learn on their own , so do the bands corrupting metal with their pop elements and their stupid mainstream music.

lamb of god has never really been that good anyways - mastodon is a great band though that keeps involving without ever allowing any pop influence to distort their greatness

the whole article is fairly interesting, but there didn't seem to be any sort of a message though (other than giving a whole bunch of info)

I agree on pretty much all you said except about Hardcore music ala Agnostic Front, Murphy's Law, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, etc... that isn't a trend.. it has been around for long time... since early 80's ...

Are Mastodon really THAT popular now? I don't pay that much attention, but if they are, you can be sure it hasn't affected them by listening to "Blood Mountain." I guess we'll have to hear what the next album is like to really judge that though.

yea I have no idea why they are popular at all

no image of any kind, no real gimmick, music that is very complex + intricate + highly original + innovative, very intelligent lyrics, no verse- chorus- verse structure so it's not particularly catchy

they're the opposite of everything that defines pop music

i think the lesson here is that there's no such thing as "nothing there to market"

a group of people with the minds and resources can turn pretty much anything into a pop culture phenomenon :erk:

well when you can turn a completely talentless piece of crap like korn into succesful music, mastodon shouldn't be too hard

lamb of god > mastadon

Edit: Don't be a fucking moron bigdave, anus is like that enemy you respect because not only do you abhore him, you admire him for the knowledge and rivalry he provides, the conflict that brings you content.
