A concept album about Stephen King´s "The Dark Tower"

' Star Trek director J.J. Abrams and his producing partner, Damon Lindelof (Lost), told IGN.com that they have been working on a film adaptation of Stephen King's classic novel series The Dark Tower, according to a report on MTV.com.

"Damon Lindelof and I talked to Mr. King," Abrams told IGN. "We got the rights for [Dark Tower] as a film. Damon is obviously still on Lost, and we've been working on Star Trek together. As soon as Lost is done, hopefully we'll begin tackling that."

As Lost wraps up its penultimate season and gets ready for its sixth and final year, Lindelof told the Lostpedia that his entire creative energy is currently focused solely on the series.

"We're just so focused on finishing Lost that it's really hard to think about anything else," he said. "The last thing we want to think about is how to adapt a seven-book series of, you know, basically the writer who we admire the most and look up to most and has inspired our work the most and do anything with that. I think that it's such a daunting task. We have a pretty daunting task in front of us ourselves [with the end of Lost]."

Previously, Lindelof told AMC that he envisions the series on the same scope as Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, possibly even seven movies to match the book series' seven volumes. '

I'd love to throw a solo down, i'm a big fan of those books.

Great! It´s good to hear, you all are up for some contributions :)

I started recording the first bars today, the song will be called "The world has moved on". It´s a powerballade with folky/western influences. I wanna add some strange elements..something really weird, what fits the atmosphere.

I will open a thread in the rate my mix section, as soon as I have some hearable material/backingtracks for contributions.

I knew, there are some DT (Dark tower) Fans here!! :D

Nah no webpage aside from Photobucket, I'm more what you'd call 'street level' aka poor aka not pro but I do have a couple of artworks I can direct you to:

Like I said, not a pro, dont pretend to know everything there is to know but I think I can hold me own if needed. If this isnt what you're looking for, I understand. :)

Dude, this is fucking awesome! I really like your style :kickass: So I´m definitively interested!

Even though I am very busy with my bands, I like the way you sing and your musical tastes so it would be a nice project to collaborate. If you need a helping hand or promotion in Spain, I'm your man.
Check out this demo mix -w/o vox-of my next job in case your are interested in some soloing, double guitaring, synth arrangements...

Anyway you can download albums from my side project in www.soulitude-web.com (powerish and classic).

Hey Felix,

If you want some growls I would just jump on a train on a weekend and record them at your house!
If you need some bass stuff done, I could try it, fretless, too.

Jevil this is awesome! Thanks for your help offer. This is highly appreciated :kickass: Do you know the spanish magazine "Sangre e fuego"? The magazine contacted me. I will check your band out, bro!

Hey dude :kickass: Even fretless?? Alright, this is übercool! How about a guest fretless solo on one song of the project? :)

I own an e-contrabass..I also thought about playing a song with a contrabass :Smokin:

Would be cool Felix, when do you plan doing this? I am working a lot at the moment, but I think it would be really cool.
About the e-contrabass, seems nice, I would love to try a good electric upright bass, but I never played upright bass alot, only a few times at my uncle's house.

Like I said, if you have some time I had no problem to come to you and record at your home, for songwriting person-to-person is better in my opinion.

Yeah man, sounds good :)

Backing track of the first song is recorded...but I have massive problems with the lyrics :( I wrote some, but IT REALLY SUCKS so far! (I´m more musician than writer & I hate it) Maybe someone can help me with that?

Seems like it´s time to add you on ICQ, bro :kickass:

Are you a bass "animal"? :)

Edit: Okay Stef, I added you!

This seems interesting. You will compose for what type of music? Trash metal? melodic death metal?

Everything dude. The first song is a mix of Metal, western country influences, folk and soundtrack. I TRY to express the strange feeling I had, as I read Chapter 1 the first time.

I have massive problems with the mix so far..

seems I´ve to throw it in the "rate my mix" section :)

The more things you put in song, more hard its to mix them. Especially with strings. But I am curious to hear what will come.

Absolutely dude :) That´s why I had to make a break, I needed some distance. It´s a 8 min song with lots of parts and different moods. Maybe I will go on workin on it after the holidays. I´ll keep ya guys updated :)

Massive Dark Tower fan here... this could go really well, or horribly wrong. Please don't make a metal album and just strap on some Dark Tower artwork; coz that would royally blow. Atmosphere is key with the Dark Tower books, and the same could be said for any music inspired by it. More effects-driven than virtuosic guitar work, imho.
