American "black metal"?

Grand Belial's Key is the only American black metal band I like, but they aren't really black metal as much as they are blackened thrash/heavy metal. I don't like bands like Xasthur, Leviathan, Von, etc. California black metal is a joke.

What happened to Tearstained? I thought you liked them.

DER DER DER ONLY TEH NORWAY BAKL EMTUL IZ TR00

You should talk to that other newbie. What's his name? Fredy something. He too believes that only Norway makes Black Metal. you two would bet along famously. Maybe make a handsome baby or two.

I forgot about them. They aren't really 100% black metal, but yeah, they are a great band. I also like Absu, but I consider them to be more thrash than black metal.

It really depends on how you look at it though. They're not entirely musically Black Metal due to the Mercyful Fate influence, but most people consider Mercyful Fate to be Black Metal to some degree...

Though of course that may all soon come to be irrelevant since the new album boasts of a Possessed/Necrovore bent.

What about Fog?
Woods Of Ypres?
Demoncy?
Hordes Of Nebullah?
And whomever posted about black dawn the band you were thinking is called
The True Black Dawn and to me they a awesome black/death metal hybrid
band from Vassa Finland.

american music sucks most of the time. im still proud to be an american though. Why does our music have to suck so bad? Maybe its the backstreet boys influence that is always in the back of our heads. Just kidding.

Xasthur is fucking horrible, please stop listen to Malefic's atrocious abominations.

Actually I like the Funeral of Being, the rest is pretty bleh. I've listened to Xasthur for 6 hours straight now.

more like bing bing bing right!
More like bing bing bing you've forgotten Burzum, Emperor, Enslaved, Mayhem and a bunch of others.

Yeah, what about Woods of Ypres?

And Agalloch's early material boasted strong BM leanings, in the vein of Ulver.

This thread should be pirated into an American Black Metal Recommendation Thread, because the original post was shit, the poster is shit, and the argument of which black metal scene is better is a full-bown shit piñata and a half.

I say check out Grand Belial's Key, Tearstained, Absu, Leviathan, Weakling, and maybe even Goatwhore if you know what's good for you.

Fog, Gaveland, and Judas Iscariot are the only "true" USBM bands I've heard, though Agolloch is/was mostly black metal. Goatwhore has some black metal moments, but is mostly grind/death IMO. Also, TjenerensTur makes an excellent point about Sarcofago. They were black metal when Euronymous and Varg were still listening to Motley Crue and Ratt.

That looks like...
