Are we going to mention new bands or just the ones that are good from america? Iced Earth is a classic, as is Nevermore although I havent heard much of them and regret so. I dont think symphony-x is a american band, they simply don't sound like one. We have forgotten about Cryptopsy as an excellent metal band. To me its kind of thrash because its so fucking fast. Hatebreed is not really metal, that's hardcore...kind of a mix between industrial and metal. My favorite American band though is definitely Testament, I love MetallicA but they just blow now. And about following the steps of the European Metalheads, thats just unimportant, if there weren't different styles, all the metal now would be plain heavy metal.
