American "black metal"?

I saw someone mentioned Wind of the Black Mountains, they are probably my fav of the 90s onwards USBM. Grand Beliahs Key I found reasonably enjoyable and Thornspawn seemed ok, I should dust of their debut again...

Obviously the Nordic BM was unique and inspired but as earlier pointed out there were even earlier bands playing what could be conceived as blackmetal prior to the 90's that hailed from US, Brazil and England.

And lets not forget the crazy Texans' Absu and their Mythological Occult Metal;)

Holy shit they're for real?? I thought it was a joke. I could do better in paintshop. Anyway, I can't read any of the type, so I don't know what it says. I'm challenged when it comes to Black Metal writing.

I don't particularly mind Xasthur, but they're boring enough that I never take the time out to listen to them.

Misantropical Painforest - Winds Saturate With Inhumane Longing

Judge by the music. As I've said, the band has ties to the band Hail, which is quite awesome, so I certainly wouldn't be foolish enough to judge a book by its cover (or title) in this instance.

It really depends on how you look at it though. They're not entirely musically Black Metal due to the Mercyful Fate influence, but most people consider Mercyful Fate to be Black Metal to some degree...

Though of course that may all soon come to be irrelevant since the new album boasts of a Possessed/Necrovore bent.
Yeah, it does depend on how black metal is defined. Tearstained are about as much black metal as, say, Primordial are.

Of course, but you've got to admit that must be embarrasing to talk about.

"Hey what you listening to there?"

"Er... Misantropical Painforest.......? The music's good, I swear!"

Indeed, I bought there cd after hearing one of their songs my friend downloaded. I wanted to see them play when they were on tour with Cannibal Corpse, but I missed it.
Still regret that:erk: ...

I saw them open for Black Dhalia Murder last year. They kick ass live. And their stage presence may be part of the reason I don't exactly consider them black metal - no corpse paint, no spikes, no props, no silly Abbath voice between songs, just 5 guys in t-shirts and jeans ripping your face off.
