Bands you use to hate, but now like!

Venom. They were among the first handful of bands I heard when I started getting into extreme metal 11-12 years ago along with Celtic Frost, Carcass, Morbid Angel, Death and one or two others, and they were the only one who did absolutely nothing for me. I had no problem appreciating them as influential, but I think they might just not have been what I was expecting or something. Dunno if it was the mediocre production, the barely competent musicianship or the fact that they just sounded kind of...goofy. In any case, I've had a copy of "Black Metal" lying around for years. I threw it on one day within the last year and something just clicked to the point that I was like, "hey, this is actually pretty cool." And it only took about a decade.

I just realized that this is the third incarnation of this thread.

EDIT: Nevermind, mine was 'Bands you hate that most people like'

Bloodbath (though I still hate NMF)
Mercyful Fate (mainly due to King Diamond's vox, but now I dig his vox)
NIN

marduk.

i think it was because i started out with the newer stuff.

i love all the older stuff and once i got hooked on all that i started liking the newer albums, too.

the older albums remind me of old school thrash

Yea, Slater is a damn tough coconut to crack. Slayer is an even tougher one.

if that was a shirt id buy it right now.

Iron Maiden-Used to think of them as rather overrated, but I peservered with them and realised my inital opinion was very very wrong.
Bloodbath-Supergroup but never properley appreciated them at first mainly because I have never been a person who has been into pure Death Metal(Meloic Death is more my thing) but I realised I was rather foolish upon further listening

Can't think of any more for now,I'll tell you what I would have an almost endless list if it was the other round and it was bands I used to love but I now hate!
