Black Metal.

Martin Luther wrote emphatically of his antisemitic beliefs; they're one of the primary sources of German antisemitism during WWII. He's still taught in high schools as the primary catalyst behind the Protestant Reformation. Should we no longer read the 95 Theses because his other works are religiously intolerant?

the difference there is that the majority of people don't respect him for his anti semitism or read his anti semitic writings

whereas all of nokturnal mortums albums are supremacy-fuelled whitepower hatemachines if not lyrically then conceptually.

No they're not.

What does that even mean: "if not lyrically then conceptually?"

because they actively identify themselves as white supremacists? their music is fuelled by their beliefs?

put it this way. hitler was almost objectively a skilled leader and an incredibly gifted speechgiver. do people just ignore the whole genocide thing and praise his skills? no, because of what he represented - and rightly so.

people like MLK and jefferson might have held questionable morals and practises, but they weren't present in what they were respected for.

Their music isn't "fuelled by their [national socialist] beliefs."

Their music is inspired primarily by intense love and respect for a connection with ancient pagan traditions in their homeland, which have no viable tenacity to racist beliefs or bigotry. Their lyrics, speaking purely of these nationalistic ideals, can be heard and enjoyed without making false connections with racism.

Nowhere, that I can recall, do Nokturnal Mortum actually say "Kill the Jews and the black men and the Ukraine will riiiiiiise!" Or anything else along those lines.

oh well you're the expert but from the outside its all nazi stuff to me. and probably to a lot of other people that dont listen to nsbm. i guess part of the appeal of never listening to it ever comes from having to deal with shit from people like me. :Smokin:

I can separate political/ideological beliefs of a band and their music, but people with NS beliefs are shitty people because they "disapprove" of most things I stand for.

reminder that lord belial exist and kiss the goat is literally one of the best bm albums ever made (but dont listen to anything made after '99 except for their newest album which is ok)

here's the opening track:

WITTR always seemed to me like they were trying quite hard to be Weakling. "Behold the Vastness and Sorrow" off "Two Hunters" sounds EXACTLY like "Dead As Dreams," only not as good.
Are you sure you're thinking of "Vastness and Sorrow"? And the first album sounds far, far, far more like Weakling than the second, to the point where I dislike the first (because I think Weakling sucks), but I actually enjoyed Two Hunters quite a bit. The first WITTR album has at least a few riffs that are blatant, blatant ripoffs of other BM bands. Bands that the audience is likely to know, but still, there's nothing cool about borrowing riffs from so many bands so often.

What if you like their entire discography? Is it still wrong?

I completely disagree with that philosophy. If we follow your logic, then nearly every influential figure in the history of the world is to be ignored because he or she demonstrated questionable morals. Martin Luther was anti-semitic. Martin Luther King Jr. was a misogynist. Thomas Jefferson was a slave-holder.

Nokturnal Mortum write incredible music and refusing to listen to them purely because they harbor "white power" beliefs is asinine.

Being an ethnic person myself, I can understand where krampus is coming from, but it took me some time to separate the right-leaning politics in NSBM, and allowing myself to appreciate it for just being art.

Art should be the listener's objective, not politics. (Politics in art is of course acceptable. Political extremity in art assists creativity, but is not soley the only path to effective creativity).

Heavy is the crown is the type of person who hates Lil Wayne's music until he sees the VH1 Behind the Music or whatever that show is called and he's like, "Now that I know where he's coming from, I will pay for his music because the background makes it less shitty."

Seriously if you like music for ideologies and aesthetics you're going through the wrong medium. Read a book and attend fashion shows.

Glad to see the old av back hubster :kickass:

This. Two Hunters is much less doomy/dark sounding than Diadem.

im going to ignore what you wrote because its gay and i already adressed that but why is it every single metal fan seems 2 see the world in purely black and white scenarios

You're the one looking at everything in terms of black and white. You won't listen to bands like Nokturnal Mortum because of their ideologies; no exceptions. You don't even take the time to read their lyrics or try and understand anything else about them.

You're a hypocrite, plain and simple.

EDIT: Eli ninja'd me.

Exiled From Light is pretty good. If you like that band then listen to When Mine Eyes Blacken (stupid name I know). It's the same guy playing almost exactly the same style, but I think it's a little better than Exiled From Light.
