Black Metal.

I loved it, seems to be just as kickassy as they used to be, just in a more focused way as opposed to the insanity of Cythraul or Tara. I'm not saying any way is better than the other though, as I love all of their stuff.

The track sounds a lot different from Absu's old stuff, but it doesn't sound bad at all. I enjoy the last album and I'm looking forward to listening to the new one. Cover looks beautiful.

I can't wait to get the new BAN as well! The preview that Kara posted sounded very promising, but what the hell were they thinking with that announcer introduction? "ARE YOU READY TO GET DESANCTIFIED??"... sounds like someone has gotten TOO EXTREME RADIKULT

I'm a little surprised as well. I actually liked that BAN sample. The beginning sounded a DSO song, which I wasn't a fan of, but that last riff with the synth certainly reminded me of classic TWWTG-era BAN and maybe even a bit of the Memoria Vestusta era stuff.

The last thing I've heard from BAN was Memoria Vestusta II. How have the others album turned out?

I usually have a hard time listening to black metal but I've picked up a few albums I've been enjoying:

Lugubrum - De Vette Cuecken
Hades - The Dawn of the Dying Sun
Anael - From Arcane Fires
Judas Iscariot - Heaven In Flames
Countess - the Return of the Horned One

Anyone want to recommend me some more stuff? As far as that Lugubrum album goes I really like the weirdness of it and would like to know any black metal with odd instruments or the like.

Try these:

Luror - Cease to Live and The Iron Hand of Blackest Terror (as far as I'm concerned, this is absolutely necessary modern black metal done 100% right)
Fäulnis - Gehirn zwischen Wahn und Sinn (badass as fuck rocking shit that just rules in every way, also really atmospheric/weird)
Nocte Obducta - EVERYTHING (not really strictly BM, more like progressive/atmospheric/epic black/death/weird metal, but...seriously just so good)
Ascension - Consolamentum (brought up earlier this page; anything on Luror dude's WTC label is worthy, honestly. It's all just phenomenal shit that kicks ass. It's got a dude from Katharsis too)
Arckanum - Kostogher (everything is varying levels of good, with Antikosmos being easily the worst and Sviga Læ also being meh-ish, but otherwise this guy is spot-on about what makes BM good)
Die Toten kehren Wieder mit dem Wind - basically anything, it's all great (yeah yeah I know, the name is dumb, it's taken from another artist's song title though. Great German BM with consistently high quality of releases; it's one dude and usually really rough sounding, but he knows how to write great stuff. Also good luck finding it to purchase)
Dodsferd - Fucking Your Creation (way better than the majority of Wrath's stuff, though some of the albums after this don't suck/are alright; it's Greek BM pretending to be rocking Norwegian/German shit)
Njiqahdda - Divisionals (start with this one and if you like it check out Nji. Njiijn. Njiiijn. and Njimajikal Arts. Bizarre USBM that really stands apart from generic stuff)
Paysage d'Hiver - Paysage d'Hiver (you might've heard this if you have heard Darkspace but it's pretty different. Not heavy at all, very trebly...sounds like a blizzard in your ears. Great stuff)

Alright you're off to a good start there. Most of it isn't that bizarre nor does most of it use "wacky" instruments like Lugubrum and their saxophone stuff or whatever, but it's a good start.

Eh. I just find that the farther black metal is from the norm, there's a better chance I tend to like it... Urfaust - Geist ist Teuful is another album I'm particularly amused by.

Also, thanks for the list.

Yeah the last riff kind of had that Our Blessed Frozen Cells, Procession of The Dead Clowns, Memoria Vetusta II sound.
If anything they definently know how to put atmospheric leads over great rythems and spot on drum programming.
Gives me a feeling of standing outside at night and looking at the stars.

TWWTG and Memoria Vetusta II are my two favorite albums by them. The songs just stick out on these albums as opposed to the others. The other albums are good, but I could skip around the songs and not hear anything that really forces me to stop and listen.

The first 777 album was good, but again you can start listening anywhere in the album.

Diapsiquir (The sound is very fucked up and requires multiple listens)
