COB start writing new album

Holy shit, the album sounds awesome! Just listened to it once, so not much of it stuck to the head, but I can tell I liked almost all songs. I try not to listen to it too much before I get the album so it will still sound new then.

What do you even mean? The album is already released officially, it's not like it has leaked or anything. Imagine that the album was already completely mixed and ready in March, the three months we have to wait is purely for marketing and promotion...It's not like the album isn't done until the release day or something. I find no logical reason to wait to listen to the album, especially if you've already pre-ordered it and is just waiting for no reason.

I don't think there's anything wrong in listening to it now, but the actual physical album is important to me, and I don't have good speakers in my computer, so I rather don't listen to it too much before I get the album. That way getting the CD kind of feels more special.

Biggest disappointment: Dead man. I like it but expected a lot more.
This song is very epic, it just wasn't as shocking as the band and critics were describing it.

I agree that One Bottle was the biggest surprise. Nice to hear Janne really tapping into his Jens Johansson influence.

Just one more week to go! Don't want to listen to it until I have the album in my hands!

But so far it sounds very promising from you guys! Can't wait!!!:hotjump:

It's a very interesting album, all of the songs go somewhere else whether it be key wise or time signature changes, and there are a lot of them compared to RRF.

These are my opinions on the album after 3 listens:

Wast of skin : intro is beast, verse is awesome, but that part at 1:20 just ruinned the song, i hate it. solo is a minus too.

Halo of blood : very intense and full of sad emotions. one of the bests

Scream for silence : a new classic ballad for bodom, rerminds of everytime i die in chorus, interlude, solos. one of the best songs on the album. Intro is eleuveiti ish, verse is a slower slayer riff, chorus is hypocrisy ish, guitar solo is sinergy ish. keyboard solo is like everytime i die one.

Transference : the most simple song, very catchy and have one of the best intros and interlude ever.

Bodom blue moon : intro is sick, verse is bodom fuck attitude as Bodom beach terror, chorus is blooddrunky which i dont like at first but it grew on me and stuck in my head after few listens. interlude is Bastard of bodom's. this song is a mix between HCDR and AYDY. dont like key solo.

The days are numbered : the baby of Hatebreeder and Hatecrew deathrole. Sick intro with an alexi signature melody. the song is fast and dark with a punky chorus and a Deadnight warrior solo like. Double bass Black riff is awesome and very catchy. One of the best songs on the new record.

Deadman hands on you : Very different track from all they have ever did. the song reminds me sleeping stars by wintersun and if you go by nother.

Damage beyond repears : main melody is tracedawn/mors principum. chorus was a surprise for me, the black ish riff reminds me somthing on the 1st album. on of the best songs.

All twisted : FTR part 2. that explain all.

One bottle and a knee deep : honnestly i was expecting a forgetable song but i was surprised! sounds like a kalmah meets pirate. good ending of the album.

Overall, Halo of Blood is a album that mix between anger and happiness, none could explain or make that work but alexi.
i can tell is more melodic than last 3 albums, even more than HCDR imo.
it was a huge suprise that the album have nordic melodies and viking/pirate stuffs cause i tought alexi was done from that in 2001 but now he is back after his journey in USA.
a minus point to janne for his solos
a plus to alexi who improved solos writting and to his vocals

I'm blown away by this album, after 3 listens.
First thought was "HCD and HB had a baby". But then I thought it is not fair, because it wouldn't include anything after HCD, and this stuff is there too. So my second thought was "all their albums had a fucking orgy somewhere". But this is also not really true. Cause there is much more - it is different album in my opinion. But still very much bodom. Fantastic work. I hope they will build their setlist around it.

And it really gets better and better with each listen!

Couldn't agree more. It includes elements from pretty much every album (apart from maybe SW), but also adds plenty of new things. It is also the most diverse album, maybe because of that.

Also my favourite track changed again, first it was Scream for Silence. Then it was One bottle and now it's Damaged Beyond Repair. That right there is an indicator for the quality of the album.

DBR is totally Bodom meats Sinergy track, especially the leads before chorus at around 1-40 :)
ps: one week before the forum goes white and frosty, oh how my avatar will fit it!

Yeah, I'd complain about there not being any neo-classical wankery but hoping for that would be delusional at this point anyway.

Gonna say it again - this is a great album. Definitely their most balanced release yet and has so much replayability in it. I didn't even listen to Gojira's last album 10 times straight.

Fuck, this album blew my mind completely. My favourite songs for now are All Twisted, Scream for Silence and The Days Are Numbered but all the other tracks are also pretty fucking amazing. Of course at the moment I'm damn hyped but I think this might be my favourite CoB album of them all. Perfect blend of "old Bodom" and "new Bodom".

I've been playing All Twisted over and over since 2 days, I don't like comparison but All twisted could seriously be a second part to the song Follow the Reaper
