Controversial Opeth Opinions

you appeared to be be stating an opinion, nevertheless you would have been wrong anyway

This is based off a fun thread in the General Metal Discussion forum that usually promotes some decent discussion. Basically just voice some opinions that most Opeth fans don't seem to agree with (for example, in the general forum it would be something stupid like "90's metallica > 80's metallica" but not necessarily that retarded). And no need for this IMHO nonsense because that's obviously implied in the thread title. I'll start..

The Funeral Portrait destroys everything on Blackwater Park.
The Drapery Falls is a good song but gets destroyed by everything on Blackwater Park.
Still Life is a good album but is incredibly overrated.
Coil is quite annoying.

I think Coil is in the bottom 5 or 10 of Opeth's songs. And yes, that is including instrumentals like For Absent Friends and Madrigal.

This a countdown with no commentary I just put together in about 20 minutes. Obviously I love most of these songs so most of them could go up or down 5 spots or so easily.

Now I'm very disappointed Lateralus14.

well at least he's doing something positive for the forum unlike you

What, I was a good little boy and put Porcelain Heart last where it should be.

i would have done it differently but i wouldn't have been able to do it at all tbh, i just go through phases of loving different songs/albums so i wouldn't be able to pick which are my favourites/least favourites

i don't usually even read your posts before replying, anyway go check out the video i posted in the faith thread

Blackwater Park, Is not that much on an interesting album.

in fact id say its in the bottom three opeth albums.

well i was being serious for a change, and it's the announcement of finding 'the missing link'

The first two albums suck.

There's my controversial opinion.
The first two destroy the most recent two. It took me a while to get into Orchid and Morningrise but once I did, I pissed everyone off. Advent, night & silent, twilight/robe, forest of oct? Your Opinion is shit, die.

OPETH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps, death to people who leave their shopping cart in the parking lot!!!!!

another opinion:
The further Opeth gets from black metal, the better they get. (another way of saying that I dislike the first albums)

I dislike black metal!

and to the prvious post: why leave the shopping carts at all? cheap ass rides!

i don't know, i probably don't like the first two anywhere near as much as the ones after. also i think the only reason i like them a bit now is because it's opeth, i think if another band released those two albums and nothing else after... i'm pretty sure i wouldn't think much of that band
