Emo is...

Wow, one of the more interesting discussions . . .

My 2c:
Pop emo sucks
Real emo is okay
First post is pretty hilarious
Rape sucks
Todays society isn't sexist, except for some of the higher up people like bosses who tend to set wages
Money is overrated anyways
Work Sucks when you do school at the same time

Speaking of emo...

Well...I'm 17, and I have worked since I was 14 at a local baseball park during the summer and made an average of ~1000 dollars per summer since then.

Also, I'm pretty sure in college you can have a part-time job. And that gives you enough money to survive.

I honestly think I have too much work to have a part time job... Though I guess it would depend on what kind of job it was. I have a 3.87 GPA though, and if I were to balance a job as well, I think that would be compromised.

I work during the summer though, odd jobs... I made $1,500 last summer. I spent it all in one semester on art supplies and groceries. Both of which are much too expensive.

you cant seriously sit there and tell me, your studies prevent you from being able to work even two days a week. that would mean you actually spend > 8 hrs a day studying, monday - sunday. im pretty sure no one is at uni 7 days a week.

I live on campus.. I don't have a car.. and I'd say I have classes from 9AM to 7 30PM,with breaks in between ---usually. And then the rest of the day is spent being tired and/or working on projects for school. So yeah. I don't think it would work out unless I found a job on campus so I didn't have to drive, and if it was on the weekend or something.

However, I also go home every other weekend to see the chiropractor and the podiatrist because I have a bad neck/jaw, and I had surgery on my foot in December and I'll be having surgery again next December on the other foot.
My parents have told me right now they just want me focus on my studies and learn all I can and get good grades. There's nothing wrong or ''wasteful" about that.

I also want study more abroad, I went to Sicily this spring, and this summer I am most likely going to London. So I don't know about a full-time job this summer, either. But I'm not going to let anyone guilt trip me about it, or make me feel worthless because of it.

what you have said above is both conviluted and reeks of bs, but i cant really prove it either way.

my issues lie more with the australian system of welfare benefits. people can pretty much go to uni here and receive welfare to support them studying. they work as little as possible to maximise their government handouts and essentially are a plague. from what you have said, i gather you are supported by your parents, ergo, its your business, but personally id find it embarrassing to tell someone i cant buy the next round because mum / dad only gave me 50 bucks for the night ...

i'd think that in such a situation, the oweness would be on the government to fix the system that allows such things to occur. these students are simply exploiting the institutions which have been put into place through some kind of democratic process. you may not agree with what they're doing, but wouldn't it be at least equally relevant to question why they're able do so in the first place?

It's true, I'm an absolute mama's girl. I've been spoiled my whole life.. And so I've grown in that respect (when it comes to $ and being independent) a bit slower than the average person.

I don't think it makes me a bad person though, and I don't think it means I'm handing you BS. I honestly wouldn't be able to handle a job more than a night or so a week. And I DON'T have a car on campus. I'm only 20. What is so wrong about having your parents still helping you when you're 20?? My mother certainly doesn't mind, she wants me to live with her forever. I love my mum =).

p.s. Where I come from, when you're 20 you're still considered a baby. No BS.

Stop bashing Emo's, as fun as it is. Most emo kids are fucking faggots who don't know how to be anything close to masculine, but don't judge every emo by their cover. Emo's aren't all like that. Some of them actualy have shit they're going through that they need to deal with and don't realy understand how. Not all of us live perfect lives or know how to deal with shitty ones.
