Well, i thought i'd continue the theme and also because i think the new album sucks.

I'll extend this to the B-sides of the singles from this album too, as theyre ace.

My personal faves are Sulfur, March 4 and I transpire. All awesome.

Nothing on VE comes close.

rrrraaaaAAAARRR! Hate me!!(just anticipating those whiny responses)

i think LFDGD definitely is the best album Katatonia has ever done...
...it reflects an amazing feeling of SORROW and LACK of HOPE...
...and since i like that kind of mood, i just found the music and lyrics brilliant...
...i still listen to the whole FUCKIN album, including the teargas and tonight's music EP and i never get bored!!

on the other hand, i see "viva emptiness" as a compilation of DARK, TWISTED tales filled with ANGER, HATE and encountered feelings; and it is musically and lyrically much more aggressive and experimental than LFDGD...
...it is really some of the darkest stuff since katatonia took this new road...
result: a very original and creative album.
very good stuff.

i might not like the whole songs in VIVA EMPTINESS, but the album is a real piece of twisted art.

i think this just proves that these guys have a lot of creativity and potential...
--just when i thought "viva emptiness" was going to be a copy of "LFDGD", they really shut my fuckin mouth up!!

I really like My Sweet Nurse and Tonight's Music. The whole album is great though. Sulphur is absolutely amazing.

Hmmmm, well, the whole album is fucking brilliant from beginning to end. Not one bad song on the thing(Passing Bird is kind of dismissable, but still good), as it is actually my favorite album of all time. But if I were to select one favorite track, I couldn't. It would have to be tied with Teargas and Clean Today. The latter contains so much self-loathing that it is hard to not be overwhelmed.

Hehaheahe.. finally a discussion on an album I've got. Actually the only one I've bought, because of my lack of money :(

Anyway... I must say that I agree with Immortal Death, more or less.

Chrome was by the way almost the only track I heard before I bought the album. And I can also say that I went a long way to get the album... was in like four different shops before I found it in the fifth one.

Then like a ghost at niiiiiiiiight......

How could this go so very far ..and so very wrong?

Clean myself well, clean todaaaaaay! Am I transparent?

Stab me in the heart.. and make a thing stop!

used to like katatonia from 1993-1996 (the old releases...still it's the best music ever!!!) and was sort of disappointed by their stuff after for "funerals to come...". nevertheless i visited their gig in here a couple of weeks ago and although i didn't know any of the new songs (i'm still mainly black metal fan) i liked the gig and i liked "the future of speech most"...it's still my favourite track on the ldfgd album and the new album fucking kills!!! viva emptiness=album of the year...i'm afraid i'm "open-minded" now :Spin:
