Directions: Rank Sodom's 15 studio albums plus 2 early EPs. Order and number each album 1-17. Ties are OK. Your first place album earns 17 points, your second place album earns 16 points, etc.

Rules:
  • You may rank as few as 9 albums. Lists with less than 9 albums will not be counted.
  • If you list less than 17 albums, the first placed album will still get 17 points, the last placed album will still get 1 point, and the albums in between will have points distributed proportionately. The average points earned for albums that are not listed will not be impacted positively or negatively, so if you don't rank an album, you neither help it or hurt it.
At the end, the albums will be ranked based on their average number of points per vote.

You have until Friday, March 15th at 5 PM PST to finalize your list, re-familiarize yourself albums you haven’t heard in awhile, familiarize yourself with albums you haven’t heard at all, lobby for any albums you think are underrated, and lobby against any albums you think are overrated.

Don’t think I’ve heard anything beyond Tapping the Vein so I’ll have to listen to a few more albums for my list to count if I’m going to participate.

Personally would have preferred Destruction. Hopefully we will get to them eventually.

The only album I havent heard/dont own is 'Til Death Do Us Unite. I like their mid 90s era and 2000s era enough I occasionally listen to them so my list will come pretty quick.

Prelim:

1. In the Sign of Evil - 7/10, legit raw and nasty stuff
2. Expurse of Sodomy - 7/10, Sodom at their songwriting peak and still aggressive
3. M-16 - 7/10, great sound, catchy thrash anthems with a good amount of groove, one of the best joke cover tracks too
Masquerade in Blood - 6/10, consistently heavy while still mixing things up between thrashier and punkier songs
Tapping the Vein - 5/10, decent thrash but little more, a couple songs that think outside the box but not much, quality riffing almost non-existent, the brutality aspect is totally overstated
Code Red
Obsessed by Cruelty
Persecution Mania
'Til Death Do Us Unite - 4/10, probably doesn't deserve its wider reputation since this is a pretty standard thrash album, but it's not actually good like Code Red and M-16 are so who cares
Better off Dead - 3/10, unfortunate because the increased trad heavy metal influences and slight experimental bits hint at a potentially very good album, almost sounds like a thrashier and simpler late 80s/early 90s Rage at its best, but it ends up being top-heavy and inconsistent, about half the album is still dead-boring generic thrash
Sodom - 3/10, maybe it's not actually bad but it's really boring, not quite melothrash but the closest thing to it at this point in their career, the mid-tempo songs don't groove but just kind of meander
Agent Orange - 1/10, totally faceless and boring, the obligatory classic song had to pinch Sacred Reich riffs of all things
Get What You Deserve - 1/10, literally painful production and the songs mostly suck
In War and Pieces - 0/10, it's too substanceless to even be called wimpy

Will rank later:
The Final Sign of Evil (2007)
Epitome of Torture (2013)
Decision Day (2016)

yeah the ones i occasionally listen to(Get What You Deserve, 'Til Death Do Us Unite and Masquerade in Blood) are the ones i need to go through again. I listen to the rest of their stuff almost on a weekly basis. That being said i've heard every single album they've released numerous times.

Damn, I'm impressed by how regularly Sodom have dropped albums over the years.

What happened to Trivium? :P

Top for me will no doubt be Agent Orange or Persecution Mania.

I reckon Ausgebombt and Kreator's Betrayer melted the TV waves in Australia when they first came out. We had fuck all metal on TV at the time and I think the few times Dickie Wilkins was forced to play those videos on MTV he probably wet his pants. The respective albums for those singles became big in metal clubs and with garabe bands.

You don't have to, after all while you can't help picking out my spelling mistakes you aren't picking on my obviously low metal IQ
