Very difficult for me to rank these. The top three could change at any time. Masquerade in Blood is my most underrated album pick for Sodom. Great energy throughout. Expurse of Sodomy seems a little low but its very short and I like it less that In the Sign so feels about right. 8-11 are all still extremely good albums I'll listen to any day. The rest are all overshadowed by other albums the band did but even at that I'd only call Til Death a bad album, per se.

Not familar enough with Decision Day or Epitome of Torture to place them .

Prelim:

1. In the Sign of Evil - 7/10, legit raw and nasty stuff
2. Expurse of Sodomy - 7/10, Sodom at their songwriting peak and still aggressive
3. M-16 - 7/10, great sound, catchy thrash anthems with a good amount of groove, one of the best joke cover tracks too
Masquerade in Blood - 6/10, consistently heavy while still mixing things up between thrashier and punkier songs
Tapping the Vein - 5/10, decent thrash but little more, a couple songs that think outside the box but not much, quality riffing almost non-existent, the brutality aspect is totally overstated
Code Red
Obsessed by Cruelty
Persecution Mania
'Til Death Do Us Unite - 4/10, probably doesn't deserve its wider reputation since this is a pretty standard thrash album, but it's not actually good like Code Red and M-16 are so who cares
Better off Dead - 3/10, unfortunate because the increased trad heavy metal influences and slight experimental bits hint at a potentially very good album, almost sounds like a thrashier and simpler late 80s/early 90s Rage at its best, but it ends up being top-heavy and inconsistent, about half the album is still dead-boring generic thrash
Sodom - 3/10, maybe it's not actually bad but it's really boring, not quite melothrash but the closest thing to it at this point in their career, the mid-tempo songs don't groove but just kind of meander
Agent Orange - 1/10, totally faceless and boring, the obligatory classic song had to pinch Sacred Reich riffs of all things
Get What You Deserve - 1/10, literally painful production and the songs mostly suck
In War and Pieces - 0/10, it's too substanceless to even be called wimpy

Will rank later:
The Final Sign of Evil (2007)
Epitome of Torture (2013)
Decision Day (2016)

Can you make the ranking of these clearer? The scores give a decent guide, but some have the same score and I don't know if you consider them tied, have them ranked in order, or they're just ranked randomly.

1. Persecution Mania
2. The the Sign of Evil
3. Obsessed by Cruelty
4. The Final Sign of Evil
5. Agent Orange
6. Expurse of Sodomy
7. Tapping the Vein
8. Decision Day
9. In War and Pieces
10. Sodom
11. Better off Dead
12. Get What You Deserve
13. M-16
14. Code Red
15. Masquerade in Blood
16. Epitome of Torture
17. 'Til Death Do Us Unite

I really only see myself going back to the top 6 and a few songs off the other albums. While none of the albums are flat out bad, it's all pretty generic and can basically be split into a few "eras" each of which includes minimal variety. I also have to assume that people are putting The Final Sign of Evil low on principle, rather than based on the quality of the music. Because the songs themselves blow most of Sodom's discography out of the water.

17) The Final Sign of Evil (2007)

Average points per vote: 3.5/17

The Final Sign of Evil is interesting. They took the original In the Sign of Evil lineup, and rerecorded it while "finishing the album" with new songs in the old way.

If [Exodus] do what Sodom did on The Final Sign of Evil [the rerecording of Bonded by Blood] might not be so bad.

I thought there was something missing to complete the sound on that album. Maybe it's because I place In the Sign of Evil on a godlike pedestal.
