Have metalcore and deathcore gone beyond death metal?

You're confusing high quality with brutality. I personally think some hardcore/deathcore/metalcore is much heavier than most metal, but it doesn't make it good.

I find Incantation heavier then all deathcore/metalcore/hardcore, at least in my mind. Same with Immolation, Disgorge, etc. There are so many quality DM bands that are far better and far heavier.

I don't think deathcore is heavier than death metal at all.

The only reason why someone might say that is because of the production you hear on the albums. Typically, or at least from what I've heard of deathcore, the production in deathcore is much cleaner and far more compressed. Clicky triggered drums, insane amounts of vocal layering etc. I know this happens in death metal too but it seems to have found a home in deathcore. Deathcore's overall "plastic" sound and layered death/screamo vocals are an instant turn off to me.

^I agree. Deathcore does have it's brief moments here and there from band to band. But there just isn't enough quality throughout the genre's entirety to be taken seriously. Its death metal without the technique or song writing topped off with pseudo-brutality thats been done with studio editing.

Well if all he's ever heard is albums of metal and never seen any bands live then who is he going to think is more "brutal"? Someone actually has to define brutality in metal for anyone to have an actual discussion about what is or is not more brutal. Because ask any scene kid and you're going to hear that Whitechapel and Suicide Silence are insanely brutal and ask one of you and you're going to hear some death/black/grind/power/obscure genre metal bands that are super brutal. Until it actually has a definition then everyone is just going by their tastes. I don't like deathcore more than death metal but IMHO I believe they make a lot more sound and sound a lot more crazy than a lot of death metal bands who are just some guy doing cookie monster vocals and then ass loads of chugs and riffs. Listen to pitbulls in the nursery (gay name good band) or FGA/HoP or benighted or gojira and those are more brutal than any scene band, but immolation isn't more brutal than most deathcore, but I haven't seen them live so I guess I don't really know. From what I've heard Immolation is less brutal. I like them they just aren't as brutal. France has a good death metal scene.

i like death metal better overall, but deathcore does have more elements thrown in it, that can make it more interesting than your average death metal band. the greatest death metal bands can never be beaten, though.

I'm srsly lol'n at OP's stupidity. Apparently he has NEVER heard old school death metal, or real metal for that matter.

This is heavier than any deathcore ever. EVER.

Death Metal is 100000000000000000000000000000000000 times better than deathcore. They are hardly even comparable.

Lol it seems like the only person here not being an idiot is "Medal" because he's not being a bigot. It's all cool to not like Deathcore or not like Death metal, but just about everyone here is completely disregarding one genre or another, which is stupid as hell. Deathcore isn't that much different than Death Metal, it's just supposed to be a mix of hard core and death metal which is cool as hell because Hard core is good as fuck and so is death metal. But everyone is letting the D wears P and Bring me the Horizon(and those bands) drag down a really good genre. Through the eyes of the Dead and TBDM and All shall Perish and Wretched and shit, that's good hardcore/death metal. It's brutal and fast and cool. They aren't trying to be death metal and it's only the shitty fans that make them seem gay. Most of you are just saying it's fucking gay because it has the word core at the end, and that's retarded because it doesn't make you cooler it makes you look like a small minded cunt frog. Before you say you hate the whole genre you have to listen to all the bands, and no one can do that so QED you're gay.
OP is just a giant cunt frog to begin with because he's butthurt you guys aren't talking about ADTR and other shitty bands so he started a troll thread to rile everyone up.

:err: You're more stupid than the OP.

Here's death metal:

Here's hardcore punk:

And this is the so called "deathcore":

Doesn't sound shit like either genre.

Anyone with a half way decent taste doesn't give two shits about brutality in death metal. I like my death metal filthy, primitive, raw, and reminiscent of a graveyard. Anyone who judges a death metal band based on brutality shall be condemned for engaging in poseurdom. Looks like you fit the criteria.

The breakdown part doesn't work really. Plenty of death metal bands have breakdowns. They're just not the stupid repetitive *ONE NOTE CHUG* crap.

Agreed with Weasel. I was going to say the exact same thing. Hardcore Punk =/= new wave trendy brocore.
