Yeah, a lot of people are used to seeing a square edge and a narrow tenon used to glue in the neck (like a Gibson and countless others), which is totally hidden by the fretboard.
My joint is more like a PRS, where the full width of the neck becomes the tenon, and it is further locked into the body because of the neck taper. There is actually more gluing surface with a joint like mine than with a lot of other set neck designs. The drawback is that if you don't want a neck pickup - the design is pretty much shot because there is nothing to hide the tenon.
