Well I guess the key difference is that Mike writes good music.

In your opinion, which is subjective to say the least. Mike is not only friends with Dan, but has worked along side of him in the studio on Opeth material in the past, as well as in other musical projects. So I think that counts for something, eh? Unless your opinion is that Mike is indeed talented but has poor judgement and taste in the musicians/producers he works with...

Dan and Mike are both talented people, whether you like one and dislike the other is a matter of personal taste and preference, not really worth people fighting over, especially when I think it's obvious that the two guys in question admire and respect each other. I greatly admire them both.

Actually both are from the same ilk. Listen to Edge of Sanity. You will hear a lot of riffs and vocal styles that are very similar to Opeth.

When it comes down to it though, I prefer Mikael. His musical craftsmanship is beyond.
