Mudvayne?

Quote from Chud? from Mudvayne website.

"I wanted to make the song groove and find a way to make people dance in 17/8. The hardest part for me was learning that dance."

So writing songs and music comes second to a good dance routine.

I laugh at you

Mudvayne barely fit this description AT ALL.
actually, when you look at it that way from the criteria mentioned, it does fit that category. just listen to Internal Primates (i think thats the name) by Mudvayne and tell me that's not rap influenced. ok I see now that nu metal has a meaning, but i do think it is too general/broad and should be narrowed down to a few things such as the rap-infused rock beats/vocal styles and the gimmicks. Okay, I'll let you numetalists off the hook for now ;) haha thx for clearin all that up 4 me.

Of course Nu Metal is a broad term, there are so many different bands. And fair enough there shoud be more terms, I actually thought there was different terms, I thought Rap-core was a type of Nu-Metal, oh well.

I heard someons say that Queens of the stone age were Nu-Metal.

Fair enough they might be New but they aren't Nu.

For the record, I quite like QOTSA

That would be a very broad definition of rap-influenced. Whether or not you think that though, the song is well written and complex musically, its not wafer thin pop/nu metal.

Nu-Metal

The missing link between Rap and Metal.

How about that description.

Rap is very popular at the moment, incorporate rap, pop and Metal and there you have Nu-Metal, simple as.

Music you can sell to disgruntled angst-ridden teens speaking to them about being annoyed at their parents who don't understand.

Most of it is shallow money making crap, but some bands have a small shred of credibility.

Anyway, let it rest now, I don't like Mudvayne and I heard a whole album.

Im fine with letting it rest.... but what i don't like is any nu-metal description or rap-metal description towards them....too many people have probably already looked at that and are already assuming the band is "gay" or "mallcore" or whatever.... thats bullshit.... when i made my transition from nu-metal to real metal, I can't listen to nu-metal anymore because it just sucks, but I still heavily listen to Mudvayne, they are very good in my opinion, and don't fit the descriptions anyone lumps them in with.... i don't care if you don't like them, thats fine....

You could say the same about the term 'death metal' to describe dark tranquillity and cryptopsy - they both come under that umbrella, but in different forms. That doesn't mean death metal shouldn't be used at all.

Anyway, glad to see you changed your mind! :)

I insist that the name nu-metal be changed to something like alt-metal or something--ONLY because nu-metal has become a bit of a derogatory term, used to lower the credibility of any unliked group or member.

Who gives a damn? It isn't metal and it LICKS BALLS! The fact that lots of new metalheads were fans before finding real music does not give it some special validity. Just like all other mass produced media friendly crap it is not worth the plastic it is packaged in, and should not be discussed as if it (and its fans) were misunderstood by the "elite" metal scene.

Nocturnal Sun: I don't care if you "changed your mind" once everyone had called you a moron, the initial reaction you made to a one man band is the thing which singles you out as a narrow minded douchebag.

hehe, of course mudvayne are metal. do you even know where metal came from? the term metal has nothing to do with popularity or marketing, its a word describing the very broad formulation of the music, its not an intelligent trope for you to sit your ignorant ass on.

dude Necro, u need to get laid seriously. You got a TON of random unprovoked anger & you sound like my sister on PMS. u know what they say about fighting on the internet...

"Fighting on the internet is like the special olympics. You may win, but you're still retarded"

I've only heard one song by them.
Dig.
Made me want to jam pencils in my ears to lacerate my eardrums because it would be faster then turning off the TV.

really, truly, awfully bad.
