Trapped... first of all... I was a music major for 2 years in college... I play guitar, bass, piano, trumpet, and I sing... I have a progressive metal band... so yes obviously I don't know anything about music... second of all I have all of Death's CDs and they're one of my favorite bands... and I'll still stand by my statement that L.D. 50 is an amazing album and it's one of my favorite metal albums in the past 5 years... one other thing... don't call me kid... I'm 23.

Anyway getting back to subject. I am not saying Nu metal band members are pieces of shit as people (I dont care if Corey didnt donate enough to feed the children last month)but as musicians. You dont see the NBA paying me to play basketball now do you (I really really suck! ) So how come people with no talent in music can become famous and get rich? This is a very interesting anomaly to me.

Dude, i borrowed the album from a friend a while ago... and i listened to it over and over again to try and see it's value... but of course i failed, as there IS no value to it.
You've got no idea about good musicians.... *shakes head*
...and btw, i've been playing guitar for longer than you've been alive basically... so don't start me. I studied classical music and classical/spanish guitar for over five years, and i have been playing metal seriously for about 10 years. What was your point, huh?

but, either way.... : You've made an ass of yourself by saying that mudvayne are good musicians, for they are not. And i am yet to hear one peice of evidence in their favour towards this. Like i said, i have heard all of LD50, and 'death blooms' is a great song... but that has nothing to do with musical talent or ability.

Nu metal is crap.. Nobody can listen to music going on cheap E-minor chords played by fucking idiots who are trying to sound different in a way and fail at it. Nu metal is a really cheap genre for cheap people who dont listen to music for considering it music but for looking tough listening to distorted guitars. The only thing nu metal and REAL metal have in common are the distorted guitars..

The music industry however is about money and image and whatever, which is similar to sport in that the people who have the best skills at selling themselves and playing to the public and whatever are the ones who get money and become famous.
As if becoming famous/rich is important anyway, thats the business side of music, not the music side of music.
These bands do have skills, limited skills, but they are there. They can create songs with certain basic emotions/feelings... and so people can connect on a wide variety of emotions. You can listen to a Korn song and be either depressed or angry or sad or whatever... whereas as music gets technically better its emotions become more specific, hence not as many people can connect with it.
But from the musician side of thing they are simply expressing themselves through music, the same way Opeth are expressing themselves through music. Sure they have limited talents and cant do it as well, but if they are getting something from it, and the people who listen to it are getting something from isnt that a good thing? And isnt this really the aim of music anyway?

Mudvayne has good songs (just too catchy) but they dont have talent .... far from it. Most people who like them have seen them on MTV or at shitty ozzfest (too bad meshuggah and iced earth are going, im going to see them and leaving). Fuck nu-metal ..... its all pop metal ... fuck those fucks.

They arnt really talented .... because I could jum,p up on stage, cover my face in makeup and sing about stupid shitty poems that he yanked out of his ass.
I still love opeth, that is great poetry .... Everyone used to rave about them and I was like "they are ok." I got orchird and "BLAM" I was shocked .... opeth is fucking amazing. They are origional, unique, and talented up the ass.
Mudvayne kinda is unique for the nu-metal crowd (yet if they never hit mtv, I strongly dought you would know who there are), there bass and weird riffs make them somewhat unique but still shitty. Music is more the catchy riffs and look, yet mudvayne has all of that. There guitarist has no talent at all, the same fucking nu-metal riffs I could prob made with having no experiance at all. They are better then slipknot atleast, god slipknot sux. 9 guys yet I only hear about 3 of them (vox, 1 guitar, and drums) .... your entitled to your opinion but you need to ask your self how talented they are before you ask others ....

The guitarist isn't that great... but the basist, lead singer, and drummer are all amazing... and the song writing is so different than any kind of mainstream metal out there... the organization... the composition (I WAS a composition major for christ's sake) is very unique and original for any kind of music other than classical... maybe not as unique as opeth... but I'm not even comparing Mudvayne to Opeth... Opeth is by far my favorite band... but I do love Mudvayne... and the only good reason you guys can seem to bash them is because they wear make up and just happen to be considered "Nu-Metal"... you all say they're not talented... yet you give no proof... common people... I KNOW you can do better than that. When someone says they like a band you can't just say "No I'm sorry they suck... they're not talented... you suck... it's a fact"... yah... doesn't hold too much water... sorry

Does this guy actually listen to Opeth, if so he would know of two bassists better than the Mudvayne guy! Sure Mudvayne is an ok band, and I give them credit; for they DO have talent. Compared to what else is on the radio, they have a lot of talent. And I do not categorize them as NU-Metal, because of the respect I have for them. I used to be into this type of music, but it obviously no longer pleases me; sure every now and then, I will grab my brothers Sevendust CD's (one of the better Nu-metal bands) and give it a listen, but other than that I can't stand it. One thing I hate is how Tool is categorized as Nu-metal, that is such bull shit and really pisses me off!!

Alrifgt for the sake of argument that lets say Mudvayne were talented......It sure as hell doesnt sound like it!Mikael Akerfeldt ,Yngwie Malmsteen, John Schaffer, Trym Torson and Cliff burton could get torgether and have a band, and if it sounds like shit, it sounds like shit! If they are so talented as you say they are, WHERE THE FUCK IS IT!? And Kud's vocals are shit, period no "reason" needed, just listening to them allows you to hear how crappy they are. Spag is hardly amazing......Sentanced to burn could kick his ass any day of the week. And I already mentioned the bassist. I have heard people call them "math metal" because supposedly thier timing is all weird and shit. Well that is just an excuse to try and give them something "unique" when it just sounds plain shitty. Now I am not a Hypocrite, i used to listen to some Nu metal 3 or 4 years ago. But I never went to a concert or bought any shirts or anything like that, it was just for a casual listen. But even when I did listen to Nu metal I hated Mudvayne. Then I realized everything I do now and abandoned the bullshit for real music.
