great.

parker i'm sure actually covers more ground (in less time) in his 48 than ol' dude does in 90.

and

when i see him sprinting from one end of the field to the other for a whole game, i'll agree that soccer requires more physical stamina.

90+ minutes and one break vs 48 and four breaks...hmmmm...which is fitter?

(Note: this question is rehtorical - your 300lb 9foot freak vs my 180lb 6ft athelete - the genetic spastic that can't play his sport past 30 loses i.e. the Yank)

90+ and a break every time he's not near the ball... i don't know how you can disagree that most of the time spent on the field involves jogging along for 20 feet at a time then standing there for 10 or 15 seconds then jogging again...

there are many more occurances in soccer of the majority of the team not really doing anything in particular vs. nba where if you don't guard your man for 48 minutes he'll get an open basket no matter what posistion you play...

haha... another 1-0 scoring fest... and 89:57 (plus whatever stoppage time EXPLAIN THAT STUPID FUCKING SHIT) of nobody accomplishing anything... great game...

We insist that playing time = time played, and not stopping the clock for fucking "Time outs", which are fucking bent in the extreme.

Well there's the biggest difference between ours and yours... the TIME between when shit happens... y'all take an hour to score once, while we have to score at least twice a minute to have a shot at winning... if you convert 1 point in soccer to about 80 points in basketball (since thats about the rate of scoring), you'll understand how hard ballers work to score their 1 point in 80 smaller segments in half the time...

which means, just going by purely mathematical criteria, basketball is 80x as exiting as soccer, since the only thing that matters to the overall outcome (scoring) happens 80x as often.

edit: oh, and if someone missed a long range shot over the top of the goal and into the crowd in basketball, they'd be on the fucking bench. so basketball is also a much more efficiency-oriented game...

Yeah, thats why basketball is so loved the world over, and there's a world cup.

Oh hang on, sorry, that's football.

...maybe because it's a dinosaur sport... modern pro basketball has barely existed for 50 years... and also, to make a very american statement, y'all are all lame.

heh... time for me to actually leave the house and go play a game of b-b-b-b-basketball with my amigos...

we're definately doing this again later...

Who the guy? No that's my boyfriend. =\

Why is that offensive...what's Rusted Root? Ack I'm confused.

Football blatantly wins. I never liked playing basketball for a start, with all the shitty tackling you're meant to attempt to do, while you they just through it around and you run after them like a twat.

Also, football is clearly more satisfying to watch. Seeing someone throw a ball into a net is hardly ever impressive to me, unless its a really long shot or something. There seem to be only a few different ways goals are scored, and I don't find any of them particularly gratifying to watch.

On the other hand, watching someone strike a ball perfectly to position it in the right place to beat the keeper, or connect with a moving striker is simply great. The point about there being more points in basketball is therefore meaningless because they're not as impressive to see. In football a good goal often results from impressive build up play and a spot on finish, so they're worth the wait.

Anyway, football is English, so it wins.

Don't get me started on baseball. We play it here, in our schools, but it's restricted to girls and called "rounders".

i havent read all the banter re: football baseball ice hockey and basketball, but;

as far as im concerned, all american sports are just more commercial knock-offs of other sports of european origin (with the exception of ice hockey). the unfortunate thing with a lot of these non-american sports however, is they are slowly building in elements of american games.

for me, its pretty simple, breaking up sports into winter and summer spectating:
winter - rugby league and rugby union are THE best games
summer - cricket (which dominates every other sport in existence).

Susperia: Photo clearly a wedding for the following reasons -
1. white background and table-cloth
2. ornaments, decorations etc on table
3. your bored faces (in particular your boyfriend, who clearly looks like he is dying)
4. general wedding atmosphere of the photo.

the only thing that threw me was the packed lunch, but that has been explained :p

Dude why don't you just watch darts or archery or some game where all they do is score points? This attitude of 'nothing happens' in relation to football reminds me of people who turn off movies after ten minutes because nothing has exploded.
