@Necuratul or anyone else who has an opinion on the subject: What do you think about Don Imus' comments about the Rutgers basketball team? For those who don't know Imus jokingly called the team "nappy headed hos". Of course Al Sharpton et al are going ballistic on Imus. One girl on the team said that she is "scarred for life". Obviously it was a dickish comment, but come on, it's not like he said something really awful. I think people are completely overreacting to this.

I think its funny. that being said, I think Don Imus is a washed-up has been.

What would be really impressive is if he got upthere all by himself.

Genuine lol here.

I see it both ways. A lot of people have overreacted, namely Al Sharpton, whom this has nothing to do with, or anything else he ever bitches about. On the other hand, however, Don Imus is and has always been an ignorant, immature, worthless piece of shit and SHOULD be off the air not only for making such utterly offensive and racist remarks but for about a dozen other things he's done and said in the past. He's talking about a college basketball team. A group of young women who just lost the biggest game of their lives. And his comment? Nappy haired ho's. Fuck off.

It's remarkable how many people on this board are college bound, in college, or have graduated college, and a mentionable few are undergoing or going to undergo post graduate studies. The few who aren't in this category are still in very respectable jobs. There are very few typical burnout metalheads on this board, if any. This point has been made in the past but I feel that is has a particular relevance to this page.

On Imus: I don't give a fuck about him or his show. I've never liked it. He fucked up huge but he deserved to be taken off the air a long time ago, simply because his show is fucking boring.

mmm I can't wait to take that class :Puke:

I'm an English Ed major with a focus on Rhetoric & Comp

...I think after I graduate, and I still have some sanity, I'm gonna go for my MFA in Creative Writing

I just finished that exam and I think it went well, the questions were alot more general than I was expecting but I feel pretty good about it.

Have fun with that class, I'm sure it couldn't be worse than mine. Our prof invited some clown in who clearly worked for Primerica to promote Term Life Insurance and I couldn't help thinking how highly irrelevant it was. His guest lecture even appeared as the essay question on the exam, quite fucking ridiculous if you ask me.

I'm kind of both...I think the same goes for a lot of people on here.

Yeah, having intelligent people partake in this community certainly helps the quality of disccusion to remain high (I am talking about the regulars here, not boistorous n00bs).

most of that stereotype is based on the way most metalheads dress (which doesn't exactly scream out "succesful future businessman"), as well as the image of the genre

I'm heading off to University of Toronto for next year. It's gonna rock, eh?

UoT is the biggest university in Ontario and I have heard some not so pleasant things about it because of this. But I am sure it's a decent school. Are you just coming for the year or are you doing your whole degree there?

I go to Wilfrid Laurier University which is just down the road, so to speak, in Waterloo. It's a good Ontario school as well.

I got 2 Communications classes, a Spanish, Philosophy, and a Theatre class, all done before 11 AM. :D

My scheduele this past year basically involved me staying up until 3 am and sleeping till noon with classes falling between 1 and 7pm. Yeah it kinda sucked, but I think I would have trouble re-adjusting back to 'regular' hours.
