Opeth religious?

The second pic in Lietuvis looks like Peter circa '96 to me, I'd assume the first pic is either another pic of Peter circa '96, or a pic of Mike circa '96..I can't remember if Mike used V's or not.

I don't think that Opeth are religious...Peter has said in an interview that they're Atheists.

They do, however, find that subjects like the occult and "Satanism" are interesting to learn and talk about. Or at least Mike does.

According to Mike, they are not religious as a band and he himself is not religious either, but they are also not anti-religious (despite slight anti-Christian themes in Still Life's storyline). However Mike finds the occult, Satan, etc. interesting topics to explore in music, hence Ghost Reveries.

And a lot of songs are not sung from the singers perspective, meaning they could sing about satanism without being satanists, because its fictional. I think a lot of people evade the obvious point that a lot of themes in music are based in fiction with personal emotional overtones. Especially Blackwater Park... and Still Life... and MA,YH... and GR... the others less so I guess. But there is a lot of fiction in there which is not to be taken seriously.

Next question: "Is Mikael actually a ghost, and has he been involved with Satanic rituals and killed people before, or is he actually just a good writer of personal fiction?" Common sense is always a good place to start!

I think they're both pictures of Peter. I don't think Mikael used them, at least not live. On their website (if my memory serves me correct) it says the RR5 was used for recording the leads, Peter probably used it live though.

Peter definitely used the V live, I have a concert from right after Morningrise was released where he used it. I just can't remember if Mike used a V live or not heh
