Palin: Iraq war a "task from God"

As representatives of the lower income scale, you're obviously going to say that.
There's this amazing thing called investment and living within reasonable means. I have no sympathy for any of the wealthy who can't/won't do this.

Because it won't kill you, if you're smart with your money. Why are you defending the wealthy, exactly?

Because it's not possible for everyone in a country to have decent living standards without it? Somewhat even living standards is just about the most important thing for a society to not pretty much implode.

The point is, that money cannot create happiness unless you are below the poverty level. If they can provide a BMW for their family, then they can certainly provide shelter, education, food, and anything in between, anything more then this is not going to make them happier. Helping out a fellow citizens, is not going to kill these people, or send them to skid row.

Your argument in essence boils down to: "The rich can afford to give money to the poor, therefore they should be required to."

But of course the really poor people in this world don't live in the US. Even the homeless here are better off than a large portion of Africa. Shouldn't the rich of this country actually be sending their required tithe abroad?

Well, If someone's whole entire world is how much wealth they have accumulated, with no further ambition, Or thought of the rest of the people who live around them, then I would say that is a very shallow, and unhappy person.

Actually, every citizen is required to pay taxes. So, everyone is required to give to the poor, even the poor. It's not charity.
