Hey there folks,
can anyone recommend any prog bands. So far, I really enjoy Sym X, Dream Theater, I like Adagio somewhat and Sun Caged.

Check out:
-Lemur Voice (Sun Caged guitarist's old (and better) band.
-Andromeda
-Circus Maximus
-Beyond Twilight
-Dali's Dilemma
-Lalu
-Poverty's No Crime
-Shadow Gallery
-Vanden Plas
-Stramonio

I'm not a huge fan of some of these bands, but you may like them.

Adagio is freaking awesome.

Anyway...

Anthriel
Avantasia
Ayreon
Circus Maximus
Fates Warning
Opeth
Rainbow
Redemption
Seventh Wonder
Star One
Suspyre
Threshold

Opeth and Seventh Wonder are the standouts for me from this list, although the former has a lot of death growling (and generally the only death growls I can stomach, to be honest).

Here's what comes to my mind first...

Wolverine (the new release kicks ass!)
Division by Zero
Riverside
Wobbler
Ayreon/Star One/Guilt Machine
Fates Warning
Pain of Salvation
Arena
Sylvan
Rishloo
Spiral Architect
Amaseffer

EDIT: Are you interested in prog METAL particulary, or just prog, which involves prog ROCK? :) I ask because I recommended you some prog-rock bands, like Arena,Sylvan,Wobbler...

This song is prog. Prog is this song.

But I get the feeling you're looking for metal counterparts. There are none.
Buuuuut... Here are some quite similar to the bands you wrote you like.
I chose some more unknown ones because frankly it's not hard to go to progarchives and look bands up for yourself (Angra, Circus Maximus and all the other bands already listed).

If you wish to widen your prog music horizons, these might interest you:
This band only made one good album but it's excellent.

Beyond Twilight has some really cool arrangements. Sick vocals too.

EDIT: Woops, people had already mentioned Beyond Twilight.
And they hadn't mention Angra.

Yeah he said "prog bands" but seems to have meant "prog metal" bands.

Still, try to listen to prog rock too. There's some quite amazing and meaningful prog rock music out there.

It was mentioned already, but I'd like to plug Myrath again. They are very much like Symphony X in many ways. In fact, they were a Symphony X cover band for quite a while. They also add some cultural elements to their music that make it different than Symphony X. I'd start with their album Desert Call.

On a separate note, what do people think of Lance King in general, not only as a singer, but also in terms of the music that his bands have produced. It looks like he has mainly been focusing on his record company lately, but I did like some of his work in Pyramaze, Balance of Power, and Avian. He seems a bit more power than prog (I'm no expert on this), but at least I find his music interesting.

I am sorry for the confusion guys; I think I meant all things prog although I dont really like power metal: sonata arctica although maybe one song I think is good. Seventh Wonder sounded good as did Angra. The Yes tune mentioned was loved forever as is Awaken.

All things prog? the list is gonna get huge man.
I even know prog jokes ;D

Kamelot is pretty cool. I have heard of Spiral Architect but I think they are too proggy for me. I have to check out Above Symmetry and Beyond Twilight, I think the names were.
