Satyricon

Now for your indie pop record comment, it depends on the message, meaning behind it, and how it's conveyed. If the message is more then teenage angst sprouting out of a shithole of a mouth, and they actualy have an understanding of what the fuck they are talking about, and they're not just being dumb shits about it, then I will say yes, they are still black metal cause they follow the message and ideology. Who cares the form it's broughten out in, it's the message that is being conveyed.

LOL that argument again. Please die, ANYONE who supports the notion that it is ideology, not music, that defines subgenres of metal.

...Deicide follows Death Metal ideology. Black Metal wishes to replace a downfall of christianity and judeo-christianity with something new. Usualy some form of paganistic or return-to-the-old views. Death metal is destruction for the pure sense of destruction with no views past that. So no, Immolation would not be considered Black Metal for that reason. Deicide... it's pretty obvious they do what they do for shock value and nothing more, which makes them lost to the black metal ideology. So no, my concept stands strong.

Your claim is bullshit, by the way...it refutes itself, practically. Venom were considered BM back then were they not? Since when does Venom want to revert to a pagan olde tyme deal? They wanna fucking rock and sing about Satan. Goddamnit.

Mmm... Venom aren't black metal. They simply play fast music about Satan and originated the term. Anyways, I'm not saying all Black Metal bands want to replace it with something direct like a diffrent "old faith", but any true black metal looks into the future, and not just in the effect. They look for a time when they can walk the streets without having to deal with the shit of christianity, judeusm, or any other shit religion. Death metal just wants to cause destruction and removal in any form what so ever.

Realy I'm just going to end my argument here. Why? Not because I overly think I'm wrong, but because I realize what it comes down to is personal interpetation of what black metal is. I interpet it as one thing and you another. I don't realy have much of a right to tell you that you have to change your opinion based on what mine is, and likewise you don't have the right to do that to me. So I'll leave it there. My opinion is in the open, as is my opinion on Satyricon genre dispute. I'll leave it at that unless somebody realy wants to argue me through either PM's or the Philosophers section.

I have these and like them.

The older stuff has a more raw of a feel (though not raw in comparison to other bands that are more definabily "raw", just a lot rawer feel then their current releases), so if you don't like non-melo black metal already they may not be for you.
