Stories put to music?

Yes, that analogy is perfect. LotR is totally cliche. No matter how much ass BG kicks, I have to roll my eyes if they write more of that stuff. There's just so many other things to write about, that sticking with the same subject gets old really quick. Just my opinion.

Well, Hansi stayed away from it completely on ANatO, so perhaps the magnum opus of Nightfall in Middle-Earth will be the last of the LotR influenced music (they were completely absent on Imaginations as well).

Although they still are working on the orchestral project which is inspired by LotR, which started out as a demo to send to Peter Jackson when he was still looking for a composer for his trilogy (they never sent it to him because they were dissatisfied with the quality of it at that time).

I think that a song with the lyrics being that of The Raven would be sweet.

Dark Moor (among many others, I'm pretty sure), a spanish power metal band, already did a song based on that poem, called Nevermore. Despite the horrible vocals (yes that's a female singer :guh: ), if you're into neoclassical and symphonic metal, their guitarist Enrik Garcia makes them worth a while.

I am of the mind that females have no business singing metal, so I still think Symphony X should do it.

Anyway, I still think an entire album focusing on the same story would be really cool.

(Nice Myung avatar lord tarod.)

I don't remember the author of it, but a story I think SyX would do really well making a song based off of would be this story I read back in my early high school days. It's called "The Most Dangerous Game". I don't remember many details about it but its basically about this guy who's ship wrecks and he washes ashore on some strange jungle island. There is a castle there and the lord/owner of the castle is a big huntersman and has quite a huge collection of trophies (heads of animals he's killed). He at first takes the shipwrecked man into his home and helps him out by feeding him and letting him rest and such, but it seems the huntersman is looking for a real challenge in hunting. I don't remember too much but I think the man wakes up the next day in the middle of the jungle and suddenly the huntersman is out trying to kill him like game. The story is quite intense but I don't remember it much. I should look it up online to see if I can find it but I really think if the SyX guys read it they would be excited to do a song for it cause its quite dark and twisted. Anyone else read this story?

The Bible. There is some excellent mythology there.

Seriously, Beowulf would be awesome.

I second this, without any reservations. :D

...so would an originaltake on undead.

I do have questions on this though: IMO, most of pop culture's immersion to the world of undead comes from George A. Romero and Mark Rein-hagen(creator of Vampire: the Masquerade). Wouldn't it be a bit screwy if SyX do a take on the oft-cliched topic of vampires?

I'll admit that the concept is tempting though..

They have endless possibilities... If Really like to see some Greek Mythology in there, get into the gods and heros, Athena, Zeus, Hercules, Achellese, Hadis! Starwars would be great, i'm sure romeo would love that...but unfortunetly Romeo doesn't make up the band on his own lol, it take the other members as well!

In response to the vampire thing, I have always thought it would be cool if they did a song based off of inspiration from the music in the Castlevania game series. The music in that series is brilliant and uses a lot of the same symphonic, dark, and neoclassical elements SyX uses in their music. Particularly the music written and composed by Michiru Yamane (she has done most of the music in the series).
I really think it would rule if in particular they covered the song "Bloody Tears", which is a recurring song throughout the series. I would love to see what kinds of lyrics they would create for it.

I'm not sure that's always the case--but I suspect it would take a very particular voice to do it well.

(And no, I do not think I did the thing I posted in the other thread particularly well. ;) )

Final Fantasy based songs would really rock...especially if you're a fan of the game and the movie(s)

What could be better than the best games every made, and than a band playing music related to it...also being the best band ever... It would be a dream of jizm filled cups come true
