SX and Paradise Lost = Satanic ??

I believe that there is evolution to such an extent.. such as how German's are usually taller than Americans, and how Arabs have brown skin to protect them from the sun better because they live in a hotter climate.. but to say that evolution can explain that Apes evolved into a form of humans and that those humans became highly intelligent, but there are no other animals that have done this, sounds completely absurd to me.

Apes didn't evolve into humans. Look at the page I posted with the skull fossils. There has to be a selective pressure that favors intelligence in animals. There hasn't been any. Otherwise there would be more intelligent creatures. There where a few more species of human type Neanderthals, but they died out because of Cromagnons (Us).

(Fake!) highly evolved dinosaur! The butt end of many conspiracy theories.

Edit: Nice post Dan!

I agree with Canto though, and that's where I guess I am agnostic.. if humans did evolve from apes as they say, then why isn't the process still happening to the same degree? why aren't there humans in a state of half evolution, and why hasn't it happened the same way to other animals? I think there must be some sort of divine plan in how the universe has been created, it's too perfect to be some kind of accident such as the big bang theory would explain, but I don't believe in 'god' as a being that must be worshipped.. this is why I have no clue what I really believe, it's not like Matt would say that I just can't make up my mind, it's that however this was all created is still too incomprehensible to fully imagine.

Of course Darwinism is outdated! It's been expanded on so much in the past 180 years that it's not even recognizable to the first ideas put forward by Darwin. Evolution is the backbone of ALL biology, it has explained more than almost any other scientific theory presented by man.

Just because Evolution is the basis of most (not all) biology today, does not concrete its validity. I have a degree in science and through out all the advance evolutionary classes I took all I saw was quantum leaps of logic being taken from miniscual amounts of evidence. This is not an emperical science we are talking about like physics it's a historic science and thus impossible to "prove". All scientists can do is gather evidence for what may have happened, they will never prove it actually happened.

Dinosaurs.. great that you brought that up.. they lived on the earth like 65 million years? They never gained any intelligence.. but we have only had the earth for like what? 10,000 years ? But somehow we got intelligence in 10,000 years before dinosaurs got intelligence in 65 million? Please.. there are so many flaws in the theory of evolution and I cannot agree with it in that sense.

why thankyou people. :)

I think people get so caught up in arguing lately (in general, not just on this forum, and Christians as well as non-Christians) that they have forgotten what its actually about, and rather look at it as an argument that needs to be won... If your belief is strong you don't need to argue small points back and forth, I think by doing so we're kind of saying to God that we're smarter than him, I mean what would be the point in putting my faith in a God I need to stand up for? *shakes head*

razoredge - ive decided i love you..

good job beautiful..... you just made me have impure thought..... just when prog got done reighning me in...... great !.............

I did appreaciate your post about who deserves what, but I feel death is too easy. Im more into amputations and life long suffering as they have caused others.......... :heh:

Try reading the Book The Ancestors Tale by Richard Dawkins. It starts with people and works backward all the way back to bacteria. He explains all of the scientific methods and reasons why things turned out the way they did.:)

I don't know why you guys keep talking about Richard Dawkins, he's really small time. I have seen so many more atheists debate better than him. I saw him debate a Creation Scientist last fall and it was like a boy (Dawkins) being taken behind the woodshed. Instead of arguing his point, he kept just trying to say he was the only true scientist of the two, but the guy schooled him. There are way sharper atheistic writers out there guys.

Look, there was no SELECTIVE pressure that favored the idea of dinosaurs that could add. Animals just don't intrinsically get smarter as time goes on unless there is some reason.

People are now capable of reactivating the genes in chickens that come from dinosaurs. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4079283.stm

Statler, what kind of science are you into? So your saying all of the medicine developed today was done so on assumptions?

He is one of the worlds leading evolutionary biologists! He is not very widely cited for nothing. I will admit though, I wish he would stick to science. We have been talking about evolution so it only makes sense to bring him up.

I know theres like nearly no proof, just a theory and I dont apply to it but find it somewhat interesting. Has anyone else ever considered that we could have actually came from another planet/solar system? I realize our under developed technology and what we were thousands of years ago practically disproves this in itself but there are factor that could attribute to this. Just curious where people stand on that possibility.

What selective pressure forced the human brain to adapt to be able to put a Satelite in space? The gap between the human brain and the animal brain is so large I find it to be a bit of a stretch to think selective pressures could create such a gap. Since evolutoin is based upon generations and not time, bacteria today should be way different than bacteria from 100 years ago but they are identical. What medicines do you mean man? There are parts of Darwinism I like, but a lot of it's just not good science I believe. My degree is in Environmental Sciences.

Yeah a lot of the leading scientists in the Intellegent Design movement believe something along these lines. Because the DNA process is an irreducibly complex system they believe it had to come to Earth fully functioning in order for evolution to begin. So they believe DNA could have been created somewhere else and sent here on a meteor or UFO. Not something I ascribe to, but that's close to what you are getting at I think.

evolution : havent other species evolved and adapted ? Like the current: cat family, elephants, birds, crocs & gators, all the species of "fish" even Canis Lupus and Im not talking mans intervention to "fimiliarus (dog)"

granted man sticks out like a sore thumb.... literally

bacterial infections, such as flu strains like sars, strep throat strains etc, adapt to treatments like penicillin and require different antibiotics to treat.

Human and chimp brains are very similar.

Look, any response I give, no matter how convincing, will already be rendered invalid. I'm done wasting energy with this thread. Anyone who gives credibility to Intelligent Design does not deserve a wink of credibility. Every aspect of it has been proven unfalsifiable or wrong.

No, its more the curiosity relating to fairly intelectual Egyption history opposed to the more primitive tribes. But remember I never studied this stuff, so have no grasp on cronology dating back that far. It just seems Egypt was extremely advanced and there was almost a complete regression for a period.

Well the only "evolution" we have ever observed is microevolution, small changes in the expression or frequency of traits in an organism. So we will see beak sizes or shapes change in finch populations but all the birds are still finches. An actual change from one organism to a more complex organism has never been observed. Most the changes are a result of loss of genetic information resulting in a simpler organism. The only increase in information we've observed is cancer, which is obviously not a helpful adaptation. So we are actually observing a form of "de-evolution". People today have far more genetic disorders than people 4000 years ago because of the multiple replications of the human genome resulting in these copy-errors.
