Or we could just face the facts that this isnt a power metal heavy board and no power metal albums are going to do that well.
 
.... or maybe the fact that Walls of Jericho isnt even really power metal, and is a mediocre album at best, there were plenty of albums being released by far better bands at the time, who had perfected the sound that Helloween was tryin to catch with that album.... if anything, one of their Keepers albums should pop up on the list, but that shouldnt be anytime soon.
 
Agreed. Walls of Jericho before Restless & Wild is pure silliness. The Keepers albums are the ones that should make it.

as far as power metal goes, one of Blind Guardian's first two albums and Sanctuary would satisfy me.

and how is Blind Guardian's first album not power metal? regardless i'd still rather have Follow the Blind, but even if it's a bit more influenced by traditional/thrash than their later stuff i'd still call it power. if someone wants to call it "speed metal" then whatever, since i just consider that heavier power metal.

... and regardless of what Battalions of Fear is, i agree with you on it being a great album... but i still wouldn't say its their best.

I just recently started really listening to and appreciating some good power metal, have you checked out any of their other albums?

i've listened to all of them except Tales From the Twilight World and A Twist In the Myth. couldn't get into any of them except the first two. Nightfall In Middle Earth and Somewhere Far Beyond were the only other ones i came close to liking and they weren't bad, i just didn't like them that much.

i remember like Hibria's Defying the Rules, but i haven't listened to it in a long time. other than that and Sanctuary and a few Iced Earth albums i'm not so much into power metal.
