The Albums Project

Not that I want to see the entire Death discography on the list, but Scream Bloody Gore is much more worthy than a supergroup of Death rejects, and Leprosy is already featured.

Yes, and I'd pick probably a hundred different bands' albums over Massacre. Cryptopsy's None So Vile and At the Gates' The Red in the Sky is Ours are two extremely easy picks that are still probably old-school enough to not be shat upon by those that only go for OSDM.

EDIT: Winter is a good pick, even though I'm generally not a fan of doom/death. It's the only album of the genre I own, though.

There's nothing wrong with Massacre.

Into Darkness is a good choice... but for a second death/doom album I would have been more interested in Lost Paradise, Disembowelment, or an Asphyx album. There's no way suffocation deserves a second album on this list before Incantation or Immolation.

Katatonia - Brave Murder Day
October Tide - Rain Without End
 
Asphyx, Autopsy, Disembowelment, early Paradise Lost, Cianide, and perhaps a Coffins album even if they don't have that "influential" or "classic" piece would be cool. namely Asphyx, Autopsy, and Disembowelment. i think those with Winter would cover the "classic" death/doom albums.

and there's nothing wrong with Massacre, but i can't help but say with all the death metal already out there, i feel Massacre a bit second rate... that's not to say they're bad, but i just feel there's a lot of other death metal bands tha deserve a spot before them.

Maybe you're right - I've always loved From Beyond though - it's one of my favourite death metal albums. I own it on vinyl and CD - i thought it was highly regarded as far as OSDM albums go, but maybe i was wrong.

Anyways, happy to give it a miss if people don't think it's worthy - there's plenty more quality DM to go on the list. I would personally like to see AtG - With Fear i Kiss the Burning Darkness, however I know TRiTSiO is probably more important/influential, so that should be voted up shortly.
