The Official Good Television Thread

I didn't know about this.

I really like the book but I tend to be a bit more forgiving than many book fans are of tv/film adaptations so WOOO!11122

Fucking seriously that episode of the walking dead tonight had to be one of the best episodes of any series that I have ever seen. I mean it had something for everyone to watch. Human emotion, crazy amounts of gore, Ninja shit, you fucking name it man

It was sooooo well written. So far this season has been phenomenal and we're only 2 episodes in!

as it relates to good television...

finally got caught up with The Leftovers, and holy shit this season is going to be crazy. I never thought I'd enjoy an episode that revolved around Laurie and Tommy, but the scene in the van was fucking intense. Goddamn.

Also, last night's Walking Dead was great. My only thought the whole time was "Where the fuck is Rick?" Morgan made it back just fine. But whatever. Also, Carol, once again, shows she's fucking badass

For the Leftovers, I think i'm more interested in Miracle rather than the side stories from season 1. Not sure I want to see this flashback/time gap episodes continue.

I think the flashback episode that focuses on the Garveys is really good. It makes their departure (or rather what happened to Laurie) that much more crushing

That episode was awesome!

Carol's come a long way from an abused housewife. She's as badass as Rick now.

Agreed.

This season has a lot of potential to be great.

New Fargo is good but I'm finding these anthology shows hard to deal with when the first season is so outstandingly great

How about that Leftovers episode though?

This season is fantastic so far, one of the best things on, in my opinion. If it keeps up, The Leftovers has the potential to wring True Detective by its puny little neck (judging mostly by TD's critical second-season lapse; although granted, it's an entirely different story than the first season, unlike The Leftovers).

Based on the first season and what's aired of the second, The Leftovers just has some killer writers working on it. Everything is really taut and pulled together, and they don't let certain narrative strands slip.

My personal fascination this season lies in the ambiguity (which the show was always good at): first and foremost, did the girls disappear, or is there some "logical" explanation (there looks to be bad blood between groups, so foul play is definitely still an option); and secondly, Kevin's mental state - always a player somehow. I like how the show borrows an old trope (i.e. insanity) and makes it feel new and energetic. Really well done.

Another good episode, am I right?

I am fearing that each season is going to be like Lost where the cliffhangers and unanswered questions pile up until the writers put the answers in..and no one is happy. Let's hope i'm wrong though.
