Watched Get Away last night.
I'd probably watch Aisling Bea crap if she let me so watching her in something strange and off beat is not really a stretch. But this was was more than strange it was strange, odd, horrific, blood splatteringly funny and fucking silly.

Awesome flick.

I didn't expect the twist, but I expected it to be as silly as Shaun of the Dead when I saw who wrote it...and it didn't let me down.

The director is part of a Dutch comedy duo who did New Kids Turbo and New Kids Nitro (Dutch bogan movies lol) so I knew right away his solo project would be worth a shot.



The duo also did Krazy House last year with Nick Frost. Pisstake of a sitcom. Their best movie so far imo.

This was awesome. As good as the first, if not better. Very brief cameo by Ciryl Gane too. Big Nick shits on Europe!

Finally saw Cuckedsferatu last night.

Don't agree fully but it's easily Eggers' weakest film to date. In particular I felt like Nicholas Hoult and Aaron Taylor-Johnson were a bit miscast. That said, none of the performances stood out much, even Willem's. It was all just weirdly stilted save for Depp.



Points for some gnarly practical effects, good cinematography and a quite claustrophobic sound design. I'd argue Lily-Rose Depp had most of the best moments, and honourable mention to Orlok's manslave Herr Knock played by Simon McBurney. Don't know if Orlok's (Bill Skarsgård) line delivery was cool or annoying, haven't decided yet.

then saw the movie,
and then thought that the movie was better than the comic??
like seriously
when i saw the differences between the comic and the movie
i was totally thinking "Alan More made mistakes and Zac Snyder fixed them"

in the movie Dan Drieberg is a more realistic/sympathetic character
Rorschach is a scarier character
Rorschach retrieving his "face" instead of having a "spare face"
Dan Drieberg actually watching Rorschach die and his reaction to it
as opposed to the comic where Dan's got his dick in Laurie's pussy at the moment Rorschach dies

the only thing i would have changed about the movie would be to add just a little to Sally's dialog at the end to explain to Laurie (and subsequently the audience) that the moment Laurie was conceived was the only moment that Sally has ever had a dick inside her pussy (which is pretty clear to the audience of the comic once you re-read it enough times)
