I saw The Day the Earth Stood Still today and it was meh. It wasn't awful it just lacked any real impact which made the message come off as preachy rather than meaningful.
Swedish movies are awful TBH. the last 'good' swedish movie was 'låt den rätte komma in'. otherwise all the films contain either young kids getting bullied at school, by thier parents or its about some rape or sexual assault and drug overdoses.

Just watched Untraceable on Starz. Not a great movie, but it's kind of frightening to realize that that actually could happen. And in all likelihood, people would flock to that website.

Been watching "The Dentist". It really sucks and all in it's b-ness, but still it has some way of being entertaining because of the torture scenes. I have the same fucked up thing with spiders, i am so disgusted by them but still i love watching spider documentaries.

the seventh seal used to be my favourite film but i'm not sure it'd make a top 20 anymore, i love the attitude of it more than i'm actually affected by the experience of watching it. i feel like i've gone beyond it, not to say that i've outgrown it but that i've fully assimilated it and it has nothing more to give me. i tend to think it's a mark of truly 'great' films that they absorb you, not the other way around. but at the same time, if anyone insults that film in my presence i'll kick them in the ribs, 'cause it's like they're insulting part of me.
persona i think is fascinating and you could fill a library with analysis, i notice its influence all over the place as well, but i think in many ways that one is beyond me at this time. i wouldn't be surprised if i loved it a lot in 10 years time. wild strawberries i'm kind of lukewarm towards, i imagine age won't harm that one either.
those are the only three i've seen. i plan on seeing 'cries and whispers' and 'winter light' in the somewhat near future.
i'm gonna watch wall-e now anyway, thoughts probably forthcoming.

shitty movie. It's message seemed to be totally in opposition to what the movie was. It was disapproving of the kind of torture porn movies that it itself was.
