The metal channel(410 here) is awful. I don't even listen to it. I guess you have to have the channel because there is one for every other kind of music also.

get directv they have a metal channel...no videos though so it isn't worth it...vh1 classic has metal mania at 4 or 5 everyday and vh1 is getting a metal show and knowing them they will probably have Priest and Maiden and Motorhead and Metallica (when they were good)

last time I watched Much Loud ("metal" program on the mainest of the mainstream music channels around here) they played a bunch of old stuff like Metal Church and Exodus... not exactly the most underground, but definitely not top40-pandering-to-mallrats kind of thing at all.
