THE PROGRESSIVE ROCK THREAD

Pink Floyd invented techno.

Not electronica, but techno. You probably can't find me a much more techno-esque track within a decade of this song's arrival. If not techno, then trance without a doubt. And it's not like it's some obscure little track, everybody and their mother had a copy.

head music... but this one seems to be tampered with. IIRC you had to be into the full play of the record and other "stuff" and it all made sense, Floyd had to be full play, I think it got all fucked up when they became FM radio hits.

Have you checked out the 1970s German band Grobschnitt?

Unfortunate name, but............

Check out this live clip from 1978. They take a while to get going, but when they do, they do.

Speaking of newer stuff, here's a recent band heavily influenced by Opeth, Steven Wilson, Katatonia, Anathema and artists alike.

a noend of mine sound like Damnation mixed with Last Fair Deal Gone Down with pinches of Grace for Drowning and Natural Disaster.

Reading through this thread reminds me of the days when I used to listen to the Friday Rock show with Tommy Vance. Those were the days, so much going on then, and looking forward to new releases and news. Those really were the days. Some great videos in this thread.
