Maybe because they have no rules or regulations as to how much pollution they can emit and consistently dump into the air above them?

Though I for one like the look of those gray pictures. Especially with the Great Wall, gives a lot of atmosphere that a bright blue sky never can.

This is probably as clear and blue as the sky ever got while I was in China.

Ahh, Chairman Mao always brings out the blue skies.

But yeah, the fog/smog/snow worked nicely for the Wall photos. It's the other ones where the war between the bright gray sky and the dark foregrounds make everything turn out a bit dull. Stupid weather. I bet a little post-processing level-tweaking could help that out though.

Well, seeing as how Burkittsville (Blair Witch town) is five minutes down the road from Derick's family's house, I figured I might take some pics. No witches of course, but it does feel creepy. I remember the first time he drove me through the area years ago, I made a comment about the area feeling haunted, before I even knew where we were. One hill and field in particular, but I couldn't get a good picture of it. Here's the rest:
