What will be the next big thing in metal?

From what I've had the misfortune of hearing/seeing lately, metal is getting fused with trance/house/techno and subgenres of it are lending a hand to create abominations such as Brokencyde.

For fuck's sake lets hope that doesn't get out of hand.

Too late:

oh my fucking god that kind of use of autotune is super horrible

edit: but this cover was actually kinda cool

My step brother does not listen to music. He does not own a single album. It frightens me.

However, he is an anomaly. There are asexual people, for example, but they are a rarity.

But not owning an album does not mean he doesn't listen to the radio or whatever.

Even if he didn't, he'd be one of the first I'd heard of.

Out with the keyboards, synths and orchestras. I'd be happy to see the screaming/death grunts/growls die once and for all - that lost it's impact very quickly. I'm gonna get some hate for this... but the death of the Sneap sound. Out with triggers. Organic music back at the top.

Metals been infused with almost everything so its tough to gauge what the next sound will be. With that being said I think we're gonna see a lot of gimmick dependent bands coming out again like the slipknots and mushroomheads. It's the only thing I can see being what sets one band apart from the next.

If I had to say anything that will be next music wise, it'd be something thats more infused with metal and not so much metal-infused-with-whatever. If that makes sense.

Whatever it is, it's gonna appeal to the prepubescent. Our ears are just too old to tell.

That guy might be a stupid prick, but tbh, i also think that the organic sound will be the next big step for metal.. of course there will always be trends, but the next REAL big thing will probably be the organic sound.

The only metal bands/albums I find myself listening to now a days are ones that are pushing or pushed the envelope. Other than that, I went back to old school hardcore. Metal is just too generic now a days, in terms of musicality AND production. That being said, I eagerly await the new Nevermore and Atheist album.
