I have a porngrind project, but even I'll admit it's a bit goofy. I listen to some porngrind but take that shit seriously is ridiculous.

I'm sorry but you are wrong. It's still a niche audience, those bands combined couldn't crack the top 500 or even 1000k maybe.

The genre itself may be gaining in popularity and therefore enjoys a wide fan base but individually these guys are still NICHE and that's all there is to it.

Viking metal, what the fuck is viking music anyway. I also hate the lyrics, they're all just cheap exploitation without any depth, hate that Amon Amarth shit.

I think "A Fury Divine" is one of the most inspirational songs I've heard.

I don't like burp vocals either, but I haven't heard any besides the Demilich song that was posted in this thread. I'm even a fan of death metal and haven't heard these burp vocals elsewhere, so I would guess that it's not very common, which is kind of contradictory to trendiness. For something to be a trend, it would have to reach some degree of popularity or redundancy between artists. It's possible that this is already the case, but if so, I'd expect to be aware of it by now.

The lyrics aren't a big part of what I like about metal, and 'good lyrics' in metal usually mean punk style political shit, which annoys me immensely.
