I just hate bands that have to stick to some certain image through their entire career:
eg: cannible corpse with the gore - Dimmu with their flaming spiked pants and evil makeup or whatever the hell they do - and CoF with their whiny little gay midget image...or is that unintentional? And Opeths photos may be depressing, but they still give me the urge to prance around naked in an enchanted forest.....specifically a vast enchanted forest where the surrounding skies are one torn apart by the phenomenon of lightning......

No, Risquit. They started sucking (for this upcoming individual) precisely when they started making sucking music from an individual's point of view.
I liked the Loads very much, despite some of the less good stuff. I hated St. Anger.
Has nothing to do with image. If you think a band starts sucking when they cut their hair or do something similar you're an idiot, whether the band is Metallica or your über-UG black metal band.

Don't know if you noticed, but they cut their hair for their Black Album. The same time Bob Rock came on board and produced them. Which happens to be the album they started sucking on. (Yes, there have been some decent moments, but overall, they've jumped the shark.)
