Axe is great live. The only time I saw Lopez was the first time I saw them on the sounds of the underground tour, so I really can't judge his live playing except for Lamentations. I love the atmosphere that Lopez brought, but I love the sheer brutality that Axe brings to Opeth. The fast part of Heir Apparent live in Detroit was so perfect and so heavy it sounded like it came from the very depths of Hades.....

Wow, I 100% agree on that. Damnation was an album made for lopez drumming. But you can see the real power of axenrot is his playing on powerful songs such as Heir Apparent and Demon of the Fall on the Roundhouse Tapes. Let's not forget that Lopez drumming became impressive on Deliverance/Damnation and Ghost Reveries. MAYH, SL, Blackwater Park drumming was nothing special at all.
