OK list but I would put them in different spots and others I wouldn't have. The Beatles would be number one over the Rolling Stones on my list.
Led Zeppelin would be number one and I would have Pink Floyd on it and put them at number two.I will think about the rest later.Maybe I would put Megadeth and Metallica on the 80s list.

Edit I post Megadeth and Metallica sales to see which decade they both belong.

i said thats not a ranking. they are just numbered so you can see i listed 10

also metallica and megadeths biggest selling albums are in the 90's

I couldnt be bothered. I have mentioned many bands and artists that had successful careers in the 70's, thats enough for me, Im not going to sit and make some stupid fucking rateing list
.................................

Does anybody realize how HUGE the Bee Gees were in the 70's ?

The people that were into disco during that era are still into disco, those songs represent their glory days.

I thought it was a bit exciting at that time initially due to its funk edge and there was some outstanding atheletic dance involved. I was already keyed up to funk from various rock bands and old R&B that indulged a bit of funk as well as the less commercial fusion that had a funk edge. However it only took around a half a year to realize I'd already heard all disco was ever going to offer and the obsured cheezyness of most of it. Still today many could put up a respectable arguement that it is some of the best dance music, myself I would take the big band swing era as best for dance, seems to lack much cheezy factor and has more class. You can bet if a DJ is hired to do a party for people of my generation they will be required to play a fair amount of disco... at which point I say to myself... "Oh my gawd", but people, especially "the girls" will have lots of fun... being disco ducks.

I love smooth jazz. Great for driving, nearly totally eliminates urges of road rage. Were I listening to metal I would run some drivers off the road. Also good for bedtime music... sleeping or otherwize.

I remember when I first heard some of the funk through fusion I said it was going to become popular, sure enough within a few years we had Disco.

Fusion was also at the roote of smooth jazz with artists like DiMeola, Ponty, Spira Giro, Tropea, Weather Report, Jeff Beck, and others delving in early smooth jazz sounds. Larry Coryell possibly one of the first "smooth jazz" guitarists. BUT Jazz always... always had a smooth side, just another mood of the human showing through via music.

Queen are my favorite classic rock band by FAR.Then again, I pretty much grew up listening to their music.
I don't really like the Beatles(don't hurt me)
