COB start writing new album

I like RRF very much, and i dont feel like an idiot.
I do not like something wild tho, and still dont feel like an idiot. I like that...I would if I did tho..

:hypno:

I also like RRF more than SW, there's only 3 songs in SW im capable of listening to. FTR and HCDR are my favorite albums. Also Hatebreeder style is not for me. But FTR is most epic for me from bodom. We'll see what's coming in about week, maybe new favorite album?

At the risk of echoing the clichéd promotional sentiments spouted prior to album releases, I will kick off by saying that this album really is a culmination of Children Of Bodom’s best work yet. The Finns’ eighth offering may be their most focused and musically accomplished output since Hate Crew Deathroll, ten years ago. Halo Of Blood is versatile, well produced (something the previous album lacked), and most vitally – Bodomesque.

The emphasis on keyboard across the band’s discography has always divided listeners. Whether you’re an appreciator of Janne Wirman’s talents or not, the collision between his neo-classical melodies and Alexi Laiho’s guitar work contributes greatly to the band’s unique sound and lasting popularity. As always, this instrumental coupling has been utilised to achieve that early, folk influenced sound that compliments the metallic foundation so well.

Long-term fans can breathe a collective sigh of relief as a much darker feel has been captured here than on their previous effort. Eerie, neo-classical melodies like the days of old are subtly laced through high-speed metal that harks back to the band’s ferociousness around the time of the new millennium. Artistic trademarks are showcased, as well as never before seen talent. Halo Of Blood is an achievement unto itself.

The pre-released, endearing single ‘Transference’ is a mid-level indication of the spectrum of pace to be found. The album includes slower ballads (‘Scream For Silence’ and ‘Dead Man’s Hand On You’) that retain an undeniable strain of femininity within the Bodom sound, alongside full-velocity thrash numbers packed throughout the ten tracks.

Opener ‘Waste Of Skin’ is one of the latter, but gives only a hint of the heaviness that follows in the form of title-track ‘Halo Of Blood’. Wow – Here’s where things get interesting (and impressive, for that matter). The intro to Track Two is a crushing onslaught of black metal blast beats, and along with the guitar tone and riff, does not sound dissimilar to the likes of Dissection, (I dare say). The quintet has nailed an aggressive sound that I am sure many didn’t expect them to be capable of.

Even in light of this newfound bite, such blackness doesn’t return again throughout the album’s duration, except for maybe ‘Your Days Are Numbered’. But what decreases in danger, builds in grandeur with creeping hooks and soaring choruses, led by Laiho and Wirman’s duals.

‘All Twisted’ is a highlight for me, with its belting chorus and the delicate flurry of keys – like an aural interpretation of the snow falling on the album’s cover art.

Hopefully ‘Damaged Beyond Repair’ isn’t a reference to Laiho’s liver. The frontman seems to have built a reputation resembling a moody, over-drinking, LA rock-star. After the health scare he experienced last year, I’m inclined to think that perhaps a recent awakening of responsibility and renewed career focus has contributed largely to the musical advances made since 2011’s Relentless Reckless Forever. What’s important is that the axe-man is still writing epic metal today.

In fact, every band member has audibly pushed themselves within their individual areas of expertise. Children Of Bodom are back on top form; I knew they had it in them. Bring on the tour!

yeah, I like RRF and I suppose I should feel like an idiot because of that. I guess that's not what kilon meant, but it is a bad habbit to generalize.
I indeed didn't mean it like that. In pretty much all reviews I've seen, the reviewer talks about how Bodom got worse and worse after HCDR, and HOB is their new uprising.
That one reviewer actually loved RRF and he really likes HOB as well, so I meant to say that it is cool to see how this album might possibly unite the two extremes.

And for your information, I really like RRF (7.5 or 8/10. But the first 5 albums (yes, that includes AYDY) are just better in my opinion.

While this new album does trend back slightly towards the pillars of speed and death metal, it keeps intact the well-heeled spirit of rock and roll that so wonderfully grounded the previous album.

This struck a chord with me because I actually enjoy RRF if I listen to it as a very melodic and technical rock album rather than a melodic death metal album.

After hearing the 2 songs and trailers and reading all these interviews. I think HOB will be (40%HCDR,25%HB, 15%FTR ,10%RRF 5%AYDY, 5%BD)
Also i rised up my expectations about the last song : One Bottle and a Knee Deep and can't wait to hear All Twisted.

These answers kinda dissapoint me. I have always seen the reaper as the "thing" responsible for the Lake Bodom murders, and the band members as the children of the guy who survived. And then the story of reaper chasing the descendants of the survivor...

This is a joke, Alexi is probably drunk, or they gave him the mic and slammed in the with with the camera. They seem surprised and dont know what to say...

Still no track by track 3 and the album should be up on youtube within 5 days.

Yeah I honestly don't know what they're doing. They've gotta have some kinda plan though, cuz while Bodom could've forgotten to upload I doubt NuclearBlast would forget to. I just wanna hear all twisted

Do you really think that Nuclear Blast would acknowledge a leak of the album? They don't even mention the Japanese release date in their marketing, so 90% of the target audience have no idea about that. And I don't see why they would change their strategy just because some people (including me probably, I admit) don't have the patience to wait one more week.
Next tuesday they post part 3. Then they had something new every single week and the album release is just one week after that. Absolutely flawless strategy for the Western market.

Of course it would be cool and epic to wait to get the CD... But if it means waiting one full week? Not so sure. So much bad things could happen in a week, I could have my ears blown out by an extraterrestrial sonic gun and after that I can't hear it, I'm not taking the risk. It's so easy to keep others waiting when you've heard the damn thing countless of times within the last months.

I'm waiting for the disc so I can drive somewhere and listen to it in my car. I may listen to one or two songs online... or snap and just blow through the whole thing. :u-huh:

I'm kinda dissapointed in how long this is taking to leak... I'm going to still buy the cd but I really don't want to wait! I doubt it's going to even leak before the Japanese release.

I've been waiting like a crazy bitch this damn album since it was posted a year ago that Alexi started writing new songs and I'm going to buy the CD once it'll be in the stores sooooo... please, let this 5 days pass out so quickly.

I don't know how I will find the link of the leak though.

Just check this website to see if it has leaked. If it has just search on Google "Children of Bodom Halo of Blood Album Leak" and search around for a real, working torrent.

I'd recommend not checking hasitleaked.com. Starting about a week ago, I was checking that website daily. Everytime I visited there my computer was attacked by a virus. You know those fake anti-virus softwares that randomly pop up on your computer claiming that your computer is completely corrupted and only their $XX.xx anti-virus program can fix it, and if you don't get the software it won't allow you to open anything (internet included) because it claims that the file is corrupted. Anyways, its a major pain in the ass and I've had to remove it from my computer 3 times in the past week (Just boot up in safe mode, find the file location, then delete it) and its always connected to me visiting that website. So just a warning, you may not have to deal with it but its been a royal pain in the ass for me. Just check your favourite torrent sites daily for the leak, if you use isohunt.com avoid any .rar files because those are always fakes.
Back to the topic of Bodom, I can't fucking wait for this album.
