Dio Tribute "Heaven and Hell" Song Discussion

Thanks, it's not DI, it's got some plugins slapped on it. It's not a real amp tho... When I'll record the whole song again I'll record a DI and a Sansamp RPM track, monday I'll post it for sure! I think I'll stay with this bass, I have some Fenders but this one sounds clearer (Sandberg)...

Yeah, the more I listen to it, the more I like it. Your playing is really tight and a bit groovy even for such simple riffs. It's clean, and the tone is good. Continue this way, it's perfect !

You're wekcome Superfreak. Tell us if it's okay in C# ?

By the way, the bass in the BT is now 1 octave upper because my vst cannot reach the lowest note of the track, that's all. Anyway it is not important.

Here are the 2nd versions, I just went through the second half of the song and added a few grooves to the drum playing, tell me if it fits for you. If there are parts where it sounds funny, tell me so I can check it more precisely :

- Drums only : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/881054/Sneap/divers/dio_tribute_hnhBT_v2_drumsonly.mp3
- With no synth for vox : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/881054/Sneap/divers/dio_tribute_hnhBT_v2_novox.mp3

I have started finding ideas, I think the beginning and some specific parts could be interesting if orchestrated.

By the way, I did a big mistake, I imported again some midi but it imported their tempo map, messing around with mine. I didn't notice it, and then, I discovered it destroyed my midi drums because they were sliced, and therefore, each "region" was a mess. I had to manually repair everything, it sounds good to me. I want you to check, if ever you have recorded something (especially you Severu), if it's still exactly synchronized with what you have. I cannot go back because I had made no backup at that moment, so starting from now THIS is the actual version. It should be okay, but confirm me it didn't messed with your bass part (it shouldn't because the tempo change occurs really later in the song) but anyway.

From now I'll manage to never change any tempo marker even by accident.

- Version 3 no bass : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/881054/Sneap/divers/dio_tribute_hnhBT_v3_nobass.mp3

EDIT : I'm planning to orchestrate the beinning with more taste, with oboes, cellos, etc, rather than just a string section. I don't wanna give it a "orchestral metal" vibe, but just organic enhancement. Also, when the bass is alone with the voice, I may add a few synth very smooth, like round pads, to give it depth without charging the mix to let it open so that when guitars come in it still sounds huge.

if ever you are curious, it happens that the first measure is tempo 86, then the whole song is 88, until the first snare hit of the "faster part" which is tempo 104. It should be the same as precedent version

Still uploading, so wait a little, but here is the current BT, with synths playing the guitar parts (don't expect them to sound like guitars, and they don't bend like the guitars) :

it seems to have had some glitches in the orchestra export that don't exist when I listen to the project inside Reaper. I'll manage to find why, but anyway it shouldn't bother you.
