OBVIOUSLY downloading makes an impact into rental/movie retail places' incomes BUT it's utterly preposterous to, like the MPAA is doing, claim that every download equals a "loss of money". It simply ISN'T so.

yeah, well, to play the devil's advocate (because I hate those fuckers and know that they are lieing through their teeth). Just as often as I meet people like me who 'try then buy'... 50+ people (always non-metalheads) call me stupid for buying an album when i could download it for free!!!

i think the Catholic church commissioning all sorts of artists would fall under this definition. :p

I said it = loss of money when someone downloaded IN PLACE of renting a movie they WOULD HAVE RENTED/BOUGHT had the free download not been available.
Yes, but you cannot possibly say, for any given case, that this is true.

It's completely a moot point anyway because the free download is available.

oh yeah i burned my first copy of a Netshitz DVD last week, Brazil. if i watch it more than twice i'll buy that $47 Super Fun Happy edition because i support all things Terry Gilliam and many things The Criterion Collection too.

To sample? Sure, but if you decide you like it and don't buy it then? You're a fucking thief.

100% bonified correct. however, not all of us have $18,000 bucks lieing around to buy metal CDs. Some of us don't have $100 bucks to spare to buy CDs.

I also don't believe in downloading music IN PLACE of buying it outright. To sample? Sure, but if you decide you like it and don't buy it then? You're a fucking thief.
No, you're not, you're guilty of copyright infringement, a wholly different crime altogether. This is you:

Yes. This is not even debatable, unless American law is the complete opposite of Scandinavian law when it comes to the definition of theft (which I doubt).
